Is DW8 a good starting point for noobs?
Never played a DW game or spinoffs. Interested in only games on Steam and/or Xbox One including X/S generation.

Just looking for a fun hack and slash with a decent story, upgrades, customization, achievements, nothing massively excessively grindy for the story and most of the achievements if possible.

Thanks!

its a fun switch off your brain and bash dudes game. There is a decent grind in this to unlock all the things and the achievements require you to finish literally everything on the highest difficulty.
The achievements can be difficult. I have only gotten alittle over half, but tbf I haven't been trying to get the others. If u are trying to unlock everything and max out ALL characters this game is EXTREMELY grindy.

As for a "starting point", hmm. I mean its as good a place as any I guess. I recommend it over 9. I haven't seen much from 10. What I did see I was not too impressed by.
This is the musou core concept to it's maximum potential. Later games add new features that extend the games in different directions.
IMO, the depth and replay value of this game and the fact that it runs on almost anything is just too good to ignore.
As far as I know, the game has ps4 screen on Xbox one and ps3 on Steam, so maybe you can make a good choice after you know about it. And,KT Games' achievements are not simple: )

Yep. IMO the biggest and best DW/Musou game ever.

Not too much in the way of customisation though. The stories (there are 4 main ones, plus some side stuff) aren't really grindy. On normal difficult you can run them straight through without needing to grind at all pretty easily. The achievements on the other hand can be incredibly grindy (all DW game achievements are!).
I just bought this game and it is my first into the warriors main line (I've played a few spinoffs). I'm not going to lie, looking at gameplay videos and the screenshots doesn't do it justice. When you play it feels very fast paced and just good. I like this so much more than Pirate Warriors 3 (I never watched one piece so i'm talking gameplay wise this one feels like it has more understanding on what makes this genre feel good) and I feel like I've gotten less bored than when playing Hyrule Warriors even (love Zelda).
The story so far seems understandable and it is just a really good game so far. If you like these kind of games or think you'd like some hack and slash - you'd enjoy it. Controller does work though you might need to relaunch it a time or two before it works for the first time (I had to but I also was doing 2 player with my wife). Cheers!

it is the best, its the highest profile dynasty warriors and the first one released on steam and generally storefronts in the west for pc
