mine doesn't even need any workaround, it just worked normally.
maybe u did some reg edits that messed things up for ur system?
So what I did was start the settings thing when you press play. Then had it run windowed. Then it always runs properly. I am guessing people have an issue with the rezolution actually since the highest it goes seems to be around 1200p and thats it.
Try and see if that works if it crashes on startup.
Whelp, I just changed to a new PC running on Windows 11 Pro (23H2 Build 22631.4602) and the game no longer starts up too. Configuration tool runs fine, but the game doesn't launch at all and without any errors - Steam just shows the launch window and then it just disappears.
Was using Windows 10 Pro on my old PC, both using AMD processors and Nvidia graphics cards.
Things I've tried and have ruled out
- Disabling anti-virus or adding the game as an exception (which previously prevented me from even installing Dynasty Warriors: Origins demo).
- Disabling integrated graphics card.
Solution
So I've digged around the Internet and found a solution that worked for me. It's not the cleanest solution imo, but it does get the game to start. It seems that the problem might be an issue with the VC++ Redist setup when Steam first sets up the game.
Anyway, go to https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgamingtechsupport/comments/vky73k/how_to_fix_the_0xc000007b_error_in_games_ultimate/ and refer to solution #3 (credits to him/her).
It isn't the cleanest solution because it's essentially dumping loads of DLLs into the game folder, but it does work. I'll still continue looking for a better fix, but at least I have something working if all else fails. Lol.
Btw, I only needed to extract the DLL files beginning with d3dx9_. It's as if the game somehow couldn't locate the same files that already existed in C:\Windows\System32.
After some more investigation, I've found the root issue. For some reason, it appears that my DX9 DLL files might have been corrupted. So I deleted them and reinstalled DirectX, so everything's good now. Don't even need the DLL files in the game's folder.
Yes, that's what I did. I read somewhere previously that if the DirectX DLL files in the System32 already exist, running DirectX setup will not replace those files. So if a file was corrupted, re-installing DirectX wouldn't replace that file.
For those who are confused the issue of we press play and it gives the usual prompt whenever a game is loading to launch but never launches and reverts to play button.
