Couch co-op: Recommended?
Hi guys;

I'm looking for something to play with a friend as a couch co-op game on the telly. I've never played a DW - but I think I have a pretty good idea of what I could be in for.
Hack & Slash with a buddy sounds like a blast, but the reviews seem to warn me that setting things up is a hassle - even though the store page mentions local co-op.

Can someone break it down for me what exactly local co-cop means? Can you play through full campaigns, saving character progress for both?
I have 2 for pc-controllers, will they work without too much issue?
Anything else you can think to add?
If not this, any other great couch co-op games that work better you could recommend?

Local co-op means you play with your second player in split screen.
Yes, you can play local co-op in full campaigns (I assume it is "Story Mode"). But, remember, the second player must join for each battle. Because each battle has different characters that you can play. It save the progress (depending what character you choose, progress means your character level and so on).
I have played this series using PC-controller. It works properly. But, I saw some people have trouble or issue with the controller. Please, refers to related old discussions.

This game has Couch Co-Op unfortunately like every game Koei touches it only allows a fixed number of characters on the screen at any given time so you'll have severely increased pop in, and won't even be able to see the enemy units you need to kill to fulfill target challenges for missions because of it a lot of the time.

Also I'm not completely sure in this game, but I know Koei games usually Game Over if either player dies without allowing the other to continue or revive their partner, so if that is the case in DW8 be prepared to yell at eachother a lot if you play on any difficulty higher than normal.

Seriously Koei should have learned a thing or two from the Sengoku Basara series, they made that thing run well on a Wii of all systems with minimal pop-in, and made campaings very accessible for multiple players without instant game over states when someone died.

I used to play DW 3 a ton on a tiny tv with a friend. We had great fun despite the issues mentioned above.

Hrm. We're currently finishing up Resident Evil - but for the price point, I'm not sure I'm impressed with the 'not being able to see targets' and 'forget about playing above normal' ...

I'm sure it can still be fun, but if you know of any *better* alternatives, I'd love to check that out.

If this is the best PC has to offer for co-op action slasher action .. I suppose I'll bite.

Well, not on PC unfortunately but if you have a PS4 or heck even a Wii, the Sengoku Basara series does everything Dynasty Warriors sets out to do better than Koei can. It's a shame Capcom made bad decisions that tanked sales of the franchise and decided they were done with it, because it was getting promising.

Also from what I hear One Piece Pirate Warriors has issues including gameover state problems but it's actually one of the few Warriors games that doesn't have game breaking pop-in issues whenever there are a lot of people on screen.

Sadly there aren't that many games in the Genre, and unfortunately Koei has had a hand in most of them (Unfortunate because Koei are lazy, don't have any sort of quality control, or any respect at all for PC customers, and generally hold customers outside of Japan in disdain, and they'll never put any effort into increasing the popularity of their franchises outside of Japan).
