Can you use two controllers for local coop?

Getting a big ass screen and I have two controllers.

Yes, however, im trying to do it now and its glitchy setting up the buttons in the settings menu, but im thinking thats only a problem for me

How it doesnt register player 2 as having a controller for me and I cant figure it out.

As everyone has stated, you can.

But the only way I know that works for me was using a 3rd party program like DS3 Tool to register 2P controller since the game itself will automatically register the 1P controller after detecting it. Then go to game settings and set the hotkeys to your liking.

Every time I have tried, it needed player 2 to use the keyboard.

I play with 2 controllers without changing any options.

normaly you need to put in the controllers befor u start the game than will they work.

I have the same problem aswell, we had the game installed before for a long time, and it worked perfect with 2x xbox 360 controllers, then we stopped playing for a while so deleted it.
We installed it other day to play it again and now we cant get both controllers to work, most of the time its controller 2 that works :/
Also when we do get pad 1 to work and use keyboard for player 2, now p2 controls p1 in menu's, even tho we deleted keyboard config for player 1 so no assignments are there for p1, also p2 cannot change weapons or setup.

I dont know if theres been a game update since last time, or windows update thats caused this, other splitscreen games on steam still work.
Oh and we are using windoze 10 64bit, if that helps

Two gamestop brand 360 controllers work perfect for me. There is a steam guide that helps with button mapping.

Okay this was hella confusing. So this is what I did and it worked for me...

1. Boot up both controllers
2. Boot up the game
3. Navigate to Options > Controller > 2P Settings
4. Using keyboard press Delete (Restore Defaults) this assigns the controller bindings.
5. Esc > Apply
6. Before exiting the Options menu navigate to Save/Load and Save.

To test, navigate to Free Mode using 1P Controller then press Start on 2P Controller to get them to join.

Enjoy split-screen 2 player fun!

If step 4 doesn't work try pressing F12 and Tab to remove all bindings. Then press Enter on each 'Action' and manually assign the controller. Then Follow 5 and 6.
