Jin Mission - Guanqiu Jian Rebellion star question

How do you occupy 3 central bases before the third reinforcement wave arrives? All these youtube vids and faq guidelines on this mission seem to be for some different achievement.

You mean in Free Mode? Basically, you have to be very fast (pick Red Hare and lower the difficulty for easier steamrolling). Capture both Eastern and Western castles, then advance towards the Northern one to trigger central bases opening and defeat the marked officers.

Yea I meant in Free Mode, sorry. Is triggering Wen Yang's assault on the Main base unavoidable? I lowered the difficulty to Hard, triggered Wen Yang, ran up the far west, dropped down that ledge, and took out Wen Qui and Wen Yang to capture the East base before the third reinforcement wave arrived, but I still fail. I guess I need to capture the West base too. Which one is the western base? I see the Eastern base and Northern one, but none to the West.

Western base is right in front of where the first two reinforcement waves arrive. Regardless, my course of action was:

• Trigger Wen Yang's cutscene;
  
• Follow the western path where the huge group of soldiers appears up until the castle with ballistae, defeat the officer inside;
  
• Exit the castle the way I came and take the high road to the Eastern Castle;
  
• Defeat Wen Yang when he appears the second time;
  
• Enter Eastern Castle, defeat Wen Qin, wait for Wen Yang to reappear for the thrid time, defeat him;
  
• Exit the castle the way I came (waiting for doors to open takes too much time...or they don't open at all) and jump into the central valley off the bridge;
  
• Rush to the Northern Castle, trigger Sima Shi's plan, defeat the targeted officers;
  
• Finish the stage.

There may be an easier way, I guess, but this one worked for me.

Oh i get it now, the western "base" is the tiny base with the ballista outside and the gatekeeper. Well I will try it out. Thanks a ton for the advice. Couldn't believe there were no guides for this one. All the ones off the web are for I'm assuming the console version star achievement, which I was surprised because that achievement was easy as cake, this ones the real WTF achievement!

Other guides are probably for the hypothetical star in Story Mode.
You're not doing this one for the Goal Getter achievement, are you? Because it doesn't count. Well, just asking.

Actually now that you reminded me, I shouldn't be wasting time doing this since its hypothetical stars I need to unlock the hypothetical campaign...

Because of the friendly advice here, I was wondering if you guys would also be willing to help me on the third objective for this battle.

"Trigger Allied Defense after some Coalition Forces start to advance"

I'm guessing the coalition forces in question are the first two garrisons to open up, near the eastern castle.

But what is the allied defense?
How do I trigger it?

An Allied Defense is a bodyguard skill. You unlock bodyguards by playing through Ambtion Mode.

^^ The game will also provide captions on the screen when the Coalition Forces start to advance, then you can trigger Allied Defense.

I agree with the above. I would just like to add a small point here. The mission will fail if the third reinforcement arrived. Just make sure that you take out the officer inside the castle and not the reinforcement. This is because you will speed up the reinforcement coming and you would not have time to complete the objective.
