Do not jump straight to deleting save files. When dealing with bugs like this, take a step-by-step approach of smaller to bigger measures.
Save your game, then try turning the game off and on again.
If that did not fix the issue, then try turning Steam off and on again.
If that did not fix the issue, then try restarting your computer. (Note that Microsoft changed the default behavior of the Shut Down command on some operating systems at some point. So unless you use the Restart command or go into settings and change the behavior of the Shut Down command, then Shut Down may not truly turn your computer off.)
If that did not fix the issue, then try opening Steam, right clicking the game in your Steam Library > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files. (This makes Steam double-check that your game has all the files it is supposed to have when downloaded. It also tends you reset keybindings and options settings, so write your settings down before trying this if you have them set very carefully or something.)
If that did not fix the issue, then try using the search function on this forum for stuff like 'hypothetical route' 'hypothetical bug' or 'route bug'. Also try posting a new thread with your question and waiting at least 24 hours to see if someone with better advice shows up.
If that did not fix the issue, then maybe consider deleting save files.
