What is different?
Hello everyone,
I was thinking about buying the game, but it says "Directors cut". Does that mean the game is cut and uncomplete?

On the contrary, it has an unlockable extra costume/mode (more magic, less health) that's not in the DS version. That's the only (content) difference.

from what i hear it was in the DS version or at least in the iOS version as a blue outfit so no, nothing NEW was added, in fact i hear some functionality was taken away as now you have to beat the game in order to use it when you could of swapped it on the fly.

They changed the blue outfit to gold style which no requires to beat the game and you cant swap it. And its on pc, i guess it now has new vector art.

But as a "directors cut" its probably the worst directors cut version of a game compared to original ive ever seen in terms of content difference. Its supposed to imply thats the way they wanted it to be and would change parts of the game itself to better reflect what the director wanted.

Such as different enemies, new enemies, new or changed places, possible added game modes, and more, this really has none of that. So instead of directors cut it should be called "steam version"

It has the difficulty of the DSiWare version (the iOS version was made easier) and also has Magic Mode, which was available on iOS at any time but here you have to unlock it. It also has Steam stuff like achievements and trading cards but that's not really part of the game itself.

I don't really think I need the magic mode or something like that and I prefer playing stuff like this on the handheld. But I will wait a bit a think about it, thanks to all of you ;)

the blue dress was just a costume - and it was basically an advertising item to boot, to draw attention to the Kickstarter.

The Golden version of the dress is part of a whole "increased difficulty" mode that simply wasn't in the other versions of the game.

When in the history of ever has "director's cut" meant less content? In movies etc. it's almost always an extended version with extra stuff.

that's not entirely true. the Dancer's Costume in the iOS version was the same as Magic Mode Costume in the new game, except it was blue. it had the exact same effect of losing double health per hit and using half the magic. it's the exact same costume however Dancer's allowed on-the-fly switching at the Import Room in Scuttle Town and you needn't beat the game to get it, it was simply downloadable in an update. the Magic Mode Costume is arguably worse, especially for people who've already beat the game on iOS. i do enjoy Magic Mode's design however.
