Is higher or lower initiative better?
Was experimenting with the new warband set up camp and was confused when changing between gear as to which gear provided my units an earlier move on the initiative ladder.

can anyone (maybe a developer) help me out here?

when swapping one of my units armor around his initiative went from:
>light armor= 29 initiative
>clothing= 9 initiative
>heavy armor= 19 initiative

is this a bug? and irreguardless whether it be one or not id like to know if i should be aiming for more or less initiative when attempting to outmove (outinitiate?) them dreaded skaven (which prob will never happen) :D

The behavior you are seeing on the camp screen seems like a bug. My understanding is that higher initiative means you act earlier in the initiative ladder. What this is worth is up for debate. Personally, I completely ignore initiative since once the fight has really started, nobody is really "first" any more. It is more of a random jumble than any kind of advantage or disadvantage.

The stats displayed in the camp are not updated properly right now I think, we are still working on improving this.

The higher the initiative, the first you play.

Advantages of Player first: Well, you have the chance to prepare the battlefield to your liking.

This is why we gave 2 OP to all units who never played their first turn so they can Counter-Attack, which comes balance the fact they are not playing first and might have to "suffer" from it. We didn't want Initiative to become a "be high or lose" kind of thing, more like a gameplay choice.
