At the moment you do not keep loot that you find as progression is not in the game yet.
Alternative victory should work although there are some bugs with Wyrdstone Rush that are being worked on for the next patch.

Yeah....I assumed it worked. But, has anyone been successful?! I have not. :)
The conditions themselves may need to be reviewed as well if they are so much more difficult than simply routing the enemy.
Improving defence (see my post about passive parry and dodge) or making it easier to disengage could change this.
We'll keep an eye on the Objective victory.
Maybe this will be helped when ranged weapons are toned down a bit. Trying to flank an enemy when he can Overwatch you through a tiny window at 100m is difficult to say the least :) Currently the player with fewer guns has to close the distance as fast as possible or lose horribly, in my experience.
Being able to move around in combat would be good too - not disengaging but circling a bit to move into chokepoints etc.
Well, honestly as an old war-gamer I don't see this as a "problem". This is the very nature of battle. Most battles and engagements start "small" and grow in this manner (more or less).
Being able to maintain a reserve, a plan and focus on the objective (as well as abiity to execute it!) are all that keep it from simply sinking into a slugfest each time.
I think that perhaps the victory conditions themselves are just too damned hard. For example I have to kill 4 of the enemy, stop, loot them and then run back to my chest (4 times remember) and stach their stuff? Hell, by the time I find and kill these 4 guys I will surely have killed another 3-4 getting there (and back) and then...guess what? They have routed by then. :-/ And the other one: Gather 70% of the wyrd stone.....yeah right. I can't even carry but 1-2 each so again lots of running back and forth to the wagon....never even got close before all hell breaks out.
