Keep going or restart?
So I just picked up Mordheim and really like the game so far - maybe apart from getting curb stomped every other mission but I've been told thats part of the experience and will eventually grow on me ;D

Theres just one thing I am wondering about and havent found in a guide yet: Should I try to win the first few missions and start over after a few failures or soldier on? A bit hard to tell when its time to throw in the towel since the game is obviously supposed to be hard. I just dont want to invest too much time in a warband thats already doomed while learning the game...

Any pointers?

just soldier on. never get too attached to anyone. a bad start won't change anything unless its going to lead to game over (like missing many shipments)

glad you play. enjoy.

the only advice i have is making sure you know the game mechanics. so do the tutorials. feel free to ask questions here. people are very helpful.

Every person in Mordheim is doomed, just keep going. Surviving despite anything is a big chunk of the game.
Just keep going until you run out of money basically. It is almost tradition to bury your first few warbands while you get the hang of it. You can miss up to 3 stone shipments. After the 4th it is technically game over. You can still play that band, but only in exhibition mode without progress.

Keep going till you start to feel confident in winning battles, then start a new one, or stick with the one you got depending on what you feel like, the only way to lose is if you can't make deliveries.

Honestly, all you need is dedication and patience. I was a complete newbie on here, I never played any similar games whatsoever and it was a blind run, yeah I received a few tips here and there after some time when I decided to post a discussion about it but all it took was alot of practice, learning from my mistakes, using common sense and finding work-arounds. I only played one faction, the mercenaries and one warband, I never disbanded it and atm, I have an OP warband where almost everyone is lvl 10 and has expended all their skill points plus have purple quality everything in their inventory since a long while.

The discussion I was talking about, check the edit part and all the players tips, its normal to die at first and even think that the game is rigged against the player but in reality, you just need to master the game and be confident enough to accept the costant risks that come with it's gameplay

I never missed any wyrdstone delivery btw even when I had no clue on what I was doing, again, im no pro player especially on this type of game, so if I made it this far, almost 150 hours in the game, anyone can.

TL;DR
Just spam luck trinkets on your most prized warriors, buff their strenght and get used to the fact that at first many of them will die or be seriously incapacitated....no need to restart a warband unless you dislike the faction

Dont get attached to certain Soldiers. Ive fired Lv 6 Mutants with great Mutations once they got Brain Damage (im NOT keeping a Soldier when he has to roll Intelligence saves). Some might argue to do the same with Arm or Leg Losses, but I keep those. Generally any Injury is okay-ish to have unless youre throwing Intelligence saves just to act

Try to keep everyone alive by sticking as a Group. Its far safer to 2v1 then to 1v1 and hope the Enemy misses

Buy Helmets, getting stunned is almost always a Death Sentence or forces you that Soldier to retreat with 10% HP. Helmets reduce Stun Chance

Avoid "Warband is scattered in Fright" Missions like the Plague of Nurgle. The Risk of getting 2v1 or even 3v1 is far to high and you cant choose where to place People if scattered. Its almost never worth the Risk of losing People, you WILL lose People in scattered Missions. All others are fine, but obviously the closer you can keep the Warband the better

Mission Loses arent that bad, just manage to complete the Wyrdstone Requests and everything else is fine. The AI matches your Warband so the Fights are always equal and fair.
This is also why you should be very careful with using Impressives since the AI will 100% have one if you field one

have fun. Ive still remember laughing with my Brother how the Dark Soul that lost his Arm very early killed everything in Sight better then his Brothers so we made him a Hero. Others died but he always came back.
Hes not gone but he is in my XBOX Save. Hail, Wolfgang das Schwert, probably had Amnesia 5 times already but holy ♥♥♥♥ you dont want to engage him in melee he has killed 2 Heroes and 1 Figher in a 3v1 once
