Why is the RPS review in the news section of this game?
Are the devs not in control of the news frontpage or something? That's the only reason I can think of that the RPS hatchet job would be posted there.

”Are you having a good December? It s almost Christmas. That s probably something to be excited about, I suppose. I tell you something that s not worth being excited about, and that sMordheim [official site]. Probably don t get anyone Mordheim for Christmas. I m going to explain why and to try to remain cheerful, but every time I write about or think about Mordheim’s idiot enemies, I just get angry."

and later in the review they say straight out that they HATE the game.

Why would the devs post a review that strongly suggest you stay clear of this game?

I think Steam determines what goes on the front page, not the game devs. I could be wrong, though. Probably am. Just my 2cents.

It is a clearly biased review and while it may contain a few of the true and known negatives about the game, it barely details the many good aspects of the game. More so the reviewer doesn't actually seem to grasp the concept of a turn based game according to some of his complaints about Mordheim. It's obvious from the get go he barely played the game, he never tried to enjoy it or to learn how to play it, he had a few battles, got rekt, then wrote a QQ butthurt review about it.

♥♥♥♥ him and ♥♥♥♥ RPS.

It's a strange review for RPS, although they've been sliding. Generally, from a short review I would expect an overview of gameplay, what's good and what's bad about the game. Maybe some opinion in the end about how it all fits together. But this review is all about the bad, and all about the emotions of the reviewer rather than facts about the game. It's not an honest review, I think. And frankly I'm a bit pissed to see it plastered all over the news page for this game.

The fact that 1400 people have reviewed this game "mostly positive" should be a pretty strong indication that the reviewer is not understanding the whole picture.

Well i may get hate for this, but true the review is pretty harsh and more a editorial piece. but he make some good points about the flaw of the game.

Yes, they're spot on about the bad stuff going on. AI getting stuck, melee turning into slug matches, repetitive terrain pieces... but is that all the game is? ♥♥♥♥ no.

Yes, but we all know those bad points and would expect to see them in a review, the problem is, the bad points is all he seemed keen to learn about and talk about, he didn't want to like the game, it was almost as he set out only to talk ♥♥♥♥ about the game rather than review it.

In all honesty what he wrote shouldn't even be classed as a review, it is clear to anyone who has played this game properly that he doesn't even know what he's talking about where certain parts of the game are concerned. I think somewhere in there he mentioned his "six" men, that means he barely played the game, like a handful of battles, as his Warband rank would have been very low to have that little amount of people.

Basically, the guy is not professional at all and shouldn't be reviewing games if he cannot spend enough time playing to learn the ins and outs.

Reviews like this from a magazine should be unbiased. His is clearly not. His sounds more like a rant then a review. Anyway its RPS so how much weight does it actually have? Not much truthfully.
crimsonsun Dec 10, 2015 @ 2:43pm
Normally I quite like RPS reviews but I have to agree this one was almost as if the writer had some grip and while majority of his complaints were based in truth I do feel he was exaggerating massively.

I also feel he was obviously not a Strategy game person because he balently doesn't like turn based systems and came across as someone looking for a real time fastest finger first experience which theres nothing wrong with just I dont think its justified to give a bad review of a game because its not the genre you prefer.

As to he actual question I don't have a clue sorry. :p

The weight is increased by being the first article on the game's store page though... I agree such a rant shouldn't be spotlighted like that.
Vidopoulos Dec 10, 2015 @ 2:46pm
The review itself was already in another thread discussed.
It is, IMO, a corporate review, saying "this game does not do things like XCOM, XCOM is god, buy XCOM 2. Ok, I wrote the review, now give me muh mony RPS".

Now, why it is on the front page.. that I don't know...

Hopefully if anyone seems intrigued by a game they do the right thing. Go straight to the community hub and do some reading before letting a "review" based on speculation and a bare minimum of gametime sway their judgement.
Sorry Stoat Dec 10, 2015 @ 4:09pm
RPS should not be getting extra clicks from the newspage for this tripe they call a review.
EagleWiz Dec 10, 2015 @ 7:58pm
Its harsh, and does ignore a lot of the positives, but I can't honestly say its wrong - the AI starts out pretty dumb, and once you add impressives it turns into hilariously broken. (seriously - if you even see an enemy large impressive odds are its just going spend its turn flailing at the scenery trying to walk through things it clearly cant).

He brings up good points.

Pay attention young people, this is why you don't put off your assignments until the last minute.
