Hard to get out of even a deadly mission with more than 150 lbs of wyrdstone even if you pick it all up and truck it back to your cart which means that to go from faction lvl 1-3 progression you need 25 ideal runs to advance which would net you a minimum of 125 exp if you did nothing but live and run deadly missions (without ever completing a secondary objective or killing anyone). I think it's 140 exp to raise a unit from 0 to 10, considering the fact that shipment requests don't count towards your goal, it would be unusual to get to the 3rd progression without pretty much maxing all your guys.
On the other hand, faction level doesn't really matter that much.
HOWEVER - it maintains something for me to aspire to and work towards, which outside of a multiplayer, is what's keeping me playing them.
edit. typo
Main faction seems to give you a level 7 leader at 4 reputation and a level 7 Impressive at 5. At this point there's no way you won't have level 10s for both of these, although I suppose they are OK for casualty replacements.
Side factions give you skill discounts. Again, by the time you get some of these higher levels you are likely to have all your units at level 10 and have purchased their skills (again, maybe useful for replacements).
I would be happy if I the shipment requests counted towards rep for your main factoin while the other two remained optonal.
"Faction rep gain is clearly balanced for MP, not SP."
I think you meant balanced for SP and not for MP. Cos in only MP you need to play a lot more than even in SP for those rep levels.
Wait, you can drop wyrdstones off at your cart? I could have sworn I tried before; which action was it?
