Training books: Increasing stats
I cant seem to find an answer on this, but whenever I use a training book on a character, regardless of what the book is for, the stats associated with that book arent increased, only the skill itself. Is this working as intended? It would seem then, that books are only good for getting an early bump to train the appropriate skills, since they dont affect things like parry chance, all alone/fear tests, etc.
Is this correct?

It raised the potential cap on a stat, not the actual level of a stat.

So this way you can spend more points on that particular stat than would otherwise be allowed to the character.

Oooh, I was looking at it all wrong, thanks! I wouldve never used another skill book again! Ahah. Thanks again.

So it's entirely useless for rank 10 characters ? Good thing I learned that before using the ones I got at the Library!
On the other hand, it does mean that I can use the Mental book to raise a Champion's Alertness maximum to 15, thus unlocking mastered Awareness. Which could be pretty awesome.

Actually the Grimoires you find in the Library are different from the training books. Each one will give the character that uses it 3 stat points to spend in either Mental, Physical, or Martial; as opposed to raising the maximum as described by the illustrious Stymie Jackson. :)

That's not true since at Rank 10 you will never have maxed everything. You must choose where you put Attribute Points and thus having more is always good and a boost that goes beyond max level.

Ok the ones from the Library are special and do give 3 points to use directly. Can you then use both a Library Grimoire and a normal one on the same character ? (Raise max, then give additional points)

Yes. Tomes and grimoirs are different items.

What Stymie said is correct :)
