And also unload back into the cart when full inventory.
Plan ahead the route you want to take. if it is full of stones. and 1 shard don´t bother.
Infact if it is one cluster. fight to death for it XD
And remember to loot the clusters before engaging another. I never have to play hard missions.
I even play poor or average missions. cause I don´t have time for all those crippling injuries that puts my leader out for 5 days :P that is 5 days no loot. and my spare leader will get light wounds.
It happens you know don´t worry about it. lol just gotten in a ambush where chicken man refused to disengage but instead keep swapping weapons 4 times XD
hahahah I think I beter remove his spare offhand weapon. cause never had this happen before.
Hit disengage swap weapon. hit disengage swap weapon.
Yea pretty much in the same boat as me. I go out with runner for wyrdstone end up encountering enemy all hell breaks loose and they end up rout (if i'm lucky) ;)
But anyway yea most of the time i cant get any or very small amounts of wyrdstone before they rout.
So having hard time to make deliveries on time managed to get the 100 on the last day just in time, for second shipment 161 i'm also have very short time left.
Not complaining though i like how it is hard.
But yea what seems like a easy task (gather some wyrdstone) becomes a brawl fast in the streets of Mordheim.
First things first:
Match starts, open map, check wyrdstone spots. Can you deploy in gather range?
You have time. You can take 100 rounds to finish the mission if you want. Take that time.
Dont go for the fight. You are not here for the fight, you are here for wyrdstone.
Get that stone first.
No, you dont need to run to the enemy to hit him.
Get that stone first.
Disengage, grab stone, engage again to force "All Alone" test.
Have an enemy locked down (All alone and he cant disengage)? Good, now just spam delay/dodge/parry and loot with your remaining guys. Be careful and cycle out your lockdown pieces or kill him before he can eventually pass and take down one of your guys.
One of your guys picked a cluster. Good, now the rest of the team has to protect him. Better lose a mission then a cluster (early game).
One of your guys picked a cluster and cart is close enough. Drop it off. The AI will never loot your cart.
I looks like you are playing sisters. You have the fastest guys in the game. I recommend excessive use of "For Sigmar".
1) Try to deploy your high movement units in 'front'. So basicaly all your heroes that do not wear heavy armour. My wizard, captain, youngblood and hero marksmen are excellent gatherers because they have lots ofblue pills, the wizard also has Know of Mordheim so he has movement 8. With these units in front (i.e. closest to the enemy) I can usualy pick up some stoff in the first round.
2) related to this, its often tempting to pick up the first stones you come across, esp if they are grouped in clusters of 4-5. Pass these over and let them be picked up by your slower henchmen as your faster units establish a 'frontline' that is further away.
3) as Nithon said, disengage and also retreat. If you pick up the stones in an area that doesnt mean you have to fight there. Dash-grab-retreat to where YOU want to fight.
4) if stuff is scattered in buildings, use henchmen to gather those. especially marksmen are good for this because they can easily come back into the fight because they have ranged weapons. Don't let fighting heroes (champion/captain) be drawn to far away. Especially the champ is golden to 'hold the line' vs mltiple AI units while you gather stuff up
(Tank Champ build:
Everything in WS, then in Accuracy (by level 10 he will actually have a decent crit percentage)
Everything in Agility. Not only raises this his melee resist to max it also means that even in heavy armour he can still climb and jump everywhere.
Everything in Leadership. This means he will tank deamons, Imprssives, and even three or four units at the time without failing route test. A captain with LD 100 will NEVER fail an unmodified psychology test. This is invaluable for controlling the battlefield.
Offc, your champ will be slow (low Ini) and not super strong or tough, but his skills make up for that: shield spec mastery, anticipation mastery (always get more melee resist in combat) and very important defensive stance mastery. This will get his melee resist up to about 80+
5) As others have said: go for clusters over shards, go for shards over fragments. Only pick up fragments to ensure an optional objective win (the added XP is very important in the first few matches).
The beginning is tough because hard and brutal are so, well hard an brutal. This is mainly because your units are still very underdeveloped. As you progress and gain some skill and OP/SP the difference between you and the AI will diminish and your skills willl make up for their health and damage buffs. Stick to normal if you can --> skip a day
Even on poor you will find bigger shards as you get higher ranking as the amount of clusters and shards is also tied to your warband ranking.
It also depends what warband you are versing and how far they are from both you and the wyrdstone cluster, at times when the cluster is closer to your wagon and away form theirs you can all meet up at the cluster and set up, but when it is closer to theirs or they are skaven meets up in a large group and then push forward toward that zone.
Then again i'm skaven so the high movement speed and 5 warpguards make gathering Wyrdstone a cinche. I don't actively look for wyrdstone outside of fighting near it and picking it up on the way.
