Beware the Hired Swords
I just wasted 1000 gold on a rank 5 Black Skaven who came with 4 injuries including a missing arm x.x won't make that mistake again.

You can see which injuries they have before you buy them. Smart thing to do the next time you want to do that.

huh, never noticed that before, thanks for the tip!

Edit: has it got any blue/purple items? Pick those off and send it off naked as a bait

LOL that's a pretty Skaven way of doing things.

Noticed it the first time a hired sword looked me in the eye with his one eye left.. I was just right before clicking the hire button when I noticed that there was something strange :)

yeah its seriously annoying. that rare rank 7 henchman that comes up for sale once in 30 days or so? Yep, 3 injuries. No good.
BlackDev Oct 11, 2015 @ 6:03pm
I assume thats the reason why he is unemployeed even with this high level. I like the feature though :)

I just got a level 3 henchman warrior for mercs. 0 injuries. And 0 GP! What a find. :)

0 GP means you got him as a reward for doing your faction's story missions, which also explains why he wasn't injured since those are always healthy. Later missions will give higher-tier units. (I got a rank 5 Champion at some point) Not really useful to necro a two months old thread for that. :p

I found a sister lvl 5 who had no injury, but I couldn't afford to buy her, sadly :p but yeah, I nearly bought a matriarch who had lost one OP, would have been pretty sad -_-

I paid over 1400g for a lvl5 possessed and he turned out to suffer from stupidity!! There was no warning, and I'm not sure if there is anywhere to look to see if a hired sword suffers form non-visible injuries before paying for him. There should be.
Wendek Jan 4, 2016 @ 11:15am
Yes there is, when you hire them there's a normal unit description screen with the three tabs on the top-right corner of the screen : "Description", "Injuries" and "History".
Although it's easy to forget about checking that part since there are a lot of non-obvious but crippling injuries (Stupidity easily takes the cake though)
If he has reaaallly excellent mutations though, might actually be one of the few cases that I'd keep, if you have spare skillpoints for Guidance on your Magister (or runes of Lucidity).

Thanks Wendek, I figured it was in there somewhere, that was the 1st time, and last time I make that mistake :steamfacepalm:
Yeah it sucks... It should be a part of the tutorial (I haven't done them so I don't know if it is already)

I'll add this at the top of my list for my next '5 Tips for Playing: Mordheim' video! Thanks for pointing out it is a problem!

....you didn't see that he was missing an entire limb? O_o

Apparently, i was rushing and didn't fathom that hired swords could have injuries. I did post this almost 4 months ago.
