Pinning shot
Ok so... Pinning shot.

As it stands the only time I really see this as useful is if you can catch someone who is delaying with range to pin them otherwise once its their turn again they just get all thier blue pills back. I am having a hard time seeing the value of this. If it took away future blue's or reduced the Blue pills of next turn now you got something.

Still makes it a useless skill. Who in the right mind would waste 6 precious skill points on some worthless skill htat takes away sp lol.....

Skaven

Pinning shot + overwatch with numbing poison. That burns 7 blue pills.

Yep, works pretty great with skaven, although I still prefer warp + crippling. Was using 2 night runners: 1 with warp and 1 with numbing at one point though. It's better used proactively imo. On your turn you can fire 3 pinning shots = 3 immobilized melee enemies. Can be quite hilarious in chokes.

What an utter waste of skill points lol. Better off taking away 4 op and -20% hit chance on them. Then again its better to use normal attack in range than anything else.

Anything using 3 op to cast and not do 50% more dmg is an utter waste of op. Op effectiveness is everything.

Sp pretty much has nothing to do with the game. Ya sure u can get them stuck at a place and spent 3 mins in the whole process while someone else can just kill the thing in 30 secs with hunger and daredevil

I'm pretty sure even black hunger + daredevil black skaven would not be able to take out 3 enemies in one round. Maybe 1.5 if he's lucky. So I don't know why the comparison. I also don't know how -4 op and -20% hit chance is better on melee (and -6 OP with crippling would be still better on average). If they don't have a ranged attack -7 SP is effectively - all OP as long as you focus on someone else this round (or attack with ranged only), You can hold melee enemies 1v3 easily with this. And skaven ranged weapons do not do all that much damage, so straight up attacking with them probably won't take out even a single enemy (if 1v1). Besides, you have 9 OP and 4 shuriken shots take 8 OP so you can use the last for crippling or pinning. You can do AR/Introspect for 5 of course but that leaves you with little SP to move or use poison.

Is the consensus still that Pinning Shot is not worthwhile on non-Skaven warbands?

I have some on my MM henchmen. But the impact is limited. But that is more due to me not utilizing it well. But like handshot you need to have it a lot and have both mastered and basic versions.

Pinning Shot is very effective for a Ranged Warband.
It just requires the ability to think past "lul dmg pwns!!1!".
Dmg isn't king. Movement is.

Example: LGT Marksman with Longbow.
He has 35m Range.
Take away 3 SP from a unit with 6m Movement and they only have a total of 24m Movement (18, if they're Henchmen).

Another example: Units with 4m Movement (Zombies, Sisters in Heavy Armour, etc).
Take away 3 SP and they only have 9-12m Movement left.

Basically, you can wear down Melee units before they can reach you. In the first example, if that Marksman has Quick Reload he'll still have 6 SP left after 3 Pinning Shots. So he can move 36m, meaning any 6m Movement units trying to catch him will always be 12m short.

No skills are useless, some just don't have the ability to figure out how to use them.

Pinning shot is very good on EVERY destruction warband (access to glob, night runner and warpguard, all destruction can run warp/numbing comp).

It's decent on order kiting warband, especially if you combine it with a wolf priest caster spamming frost bites. Bite+pinning mastered is 6 sp, leaving heroes with 1, and henchmen pinned.

And I've allways found sp reduction vastly superior to op reduction because exhaustion is less used than adrenalin's rush, an unmoving target can't enforce/break a 2vs1 and finally a no stance character is just meat on legs when you charge him with 80% crit chance.

Yeah, I was toying with the idea of combining a Wolf Priest Frost Bites and Pinning Shots. Yet another use for the absolutely amazing Wolf Priest. And with Warlock's Armor of Lead? My God. Crawl city.

That's my kite and snipe band.
1 captain specialized range.
2 LGT marksmen
1 wolf priest
1 warlock
3 marksmen
2 flagellant

High range prowl flagellant with hit and run. Use and abuse pinning shot/frost bite/armour of lead. And ALLWAYS keep overwatch on units (costs more bp to the enemy).

You move from house to house, with your flagellants covering the access to the building. Of course a maiden or a skaven band with mist hurts, but.... you do not have imp, so no maiden, and skaven are not running mist that much.
