No, I had 2 warriors on the landing area - top of stairs left and right facing towards the stairs - nowhere near each others control zones
As I said I was off the stairs on the landing area, but maybe just one of those rendering glitches
Not on purpose of course - a glitch in the game....
It happened again last night.
My warrior was set back inside a house out of sight with his ambush zone controlling the room and that triangle effect that reaches out the door about 1-2 meters. Sure enough a skaven runs into the triangle turns 90 degrees to his left and charges my warrior
Ambush and charge on stairs is weird and causes weird effects. If you get on combat on stairs i've noticed that the person on the bottom of the stairs will not be in combat where the person at the top will stay in combat unless the one on the bottom moves out. Its a bug or potentially how it is suppose to work. The person on the bottom of the stairs basically gets a free disengage or starts the turn out of combat.
Their are tricks to getting around ambush. One trick is to move within friendly circles. Ambush will not trigger if your moving in friendly circles. You also have to have some dead space for ambush to trigger and obviously no obstructions. If you walk from a friendly circle into combat (without having to move into deadspace) ambush won't trigger.
Also your base circle will extend outside of your area. So its not completely wise to park a character against a wall. You want the edge of your circle to be at the wall not the character. Otherwise you can just 90 degree walk into the other(enemy) character.
I don't trust those triangles out of doors for a real ambush threat. I've had it happen so many times that they just walk through not skaven completely related. If you want to clear or make sure you can ambush out a door you need more then a little triangle then ambush will work.
I know about the skaven movement range and in the open you are a sitting duck but when they enter a doorway any other way then straight on it should negate their MR advantage.
The circles can be handy and I already use them where I can.
