AI ignores Ambush zone?
Played a matches last night on SP.
In the games i saw the AI run straight through one of my red Ambush 'zones' twice.
It was a Skaven Warpguard and a Skaven Hero unit.
Is this just a glitch in my game where the AI trucks straight through the ambush zone or does this race have skills that negate an ambush?
In both situations i was using angles to good effect - so i was not stood in the open where they could out charge me with the better MR. I was at the top of the stairs inside the building almost 90 degrees from the top step positioned with a clear LoS to charge in.
On other occasions my ambushes worked in exactly the same situation at the top of the same stairs in the same game.

was there maybe another of your units close? because you cant charge or ambush through your units white circles

I once ignored an ambush in the stairs too, the enemy was just at the top of it, and it couldn't charge me and me neither, that's why it didn't trigger

No, I had 2 warriors on the landing area - top of stairs left and right facing towards the stairs - nowhere near each others control zones

As I said I was off the stairs on the landing area, but maybe just one of those rendering glitches

Ive had it happen to me in an open flat area that an ambush didnt trigger. Both mine and theirs at different times. Sometimes the oddest things get in the way. Like piles of trash/doors on the ground etc.

Yeah i am convinced it has something to do with skaven, maybe their extra movement range etc.
Not on purpose of course - a glitch in the game....
It happened again last night.
My warrior was set back inside a house out of sight with his ambush zone controlling the room and that triangle effect that reaches out the door about 1-2 meters. Sure enough a skaven runs into the triangle turns 90 degrees to his left and charges my warrior

if you don't have blitz on your ambusher vs skaven their base movement will outrange your ambush and they will be able to charge you without you being able to ambush.

Ambush and charge on stairs is weird and causes weird effects. If you get on combat on stairs i've noticed that the person on the bottom of the stairs will not be in combat where the person at the top will stay in combat unless the one on the bottom moves out. Its a bug or potentially how it is suppose to work. The person on the bottom of the stairs basically gets a free disengage or starts the turn out of combat.

Their are tricks to getting around ambush. One trick is to move within friendly circles. Ambush will not trigger if your moving in friendly circles. You also have to have some dead space for ambush to trigger and obviously no obstructions. If you walk from a friendly circle into combat (without having to move into deadspace) ambush won't trigger.

Also your base circle will extend outside of your area. So its not completely wise to park a character against a wall. You want the edge of your circle to be at the wall not the character. Otherwise you can just 90 degree walk into the other(enemy) character.

I don't trust those triangles out of doors for a real ambush threat. I've had it happen so many times that they just walk through not skaven completely related. If you want to clear or make sure you can ambush out a door you need more then a little triangle then ambush will work.

Appreciate the reply. Makes sense and is something to consider about the doorways.

I know about the skaven movement range and in the open you are a sitting duck but when they enter a doorway any other way then straight on it should negate their MR advantage.

The circles can be handy and I already use them where I can.
