Balance Issues.
Last time I played (once the first act for campaign was added.) the AI was extremely imbalanced (after 2 missions, they would jump to 6 members, and almost 1 shot my best warriors...at that point.)

Seeing that 2 "Patches" happened, has he Balance issues been sorted? Or is it still a death sentance after 2 or 3 campaign games?

The AI can no longer field more warriors than you, it always has the same number.
It still has stats bonuses, but those are honestly needed because the AI, quite honestly, sucks balls and it only gets more and more apparent as you keep playing (example that I'm seeing a lot these days : the AI keeps spamming the skill "Careful Approach" that increases Ranged resistance... against Sisters with literally no ranged weapon). Early game it's still quite deadly because of said bonuses though.

At least them outnumbering you is fixed though, the buffs? Bareable, honestly. Thanks for the reply, Wendek. :)

Theres no such thing as a "deathsentence" in the game (unless counting marked for death). The story missions have a fixed difficulty, so if you take them on too early, it will be VERY tough. Other than the story missions, every mission is balanced according to your warband size, composition and rating (the combined rating of all your ACTIVE members and their gear).

The enemy will always have exactly as many warriors as you.
The enemy will have as many heroes/henchmen/impressives as you.
- The levels of the individual warriors might be different from yours.
The combined rating of the enemy warband, will more or less match yours in normal missions, going up in hard/brutal/deadly missions.

When mousing over a storymission, you can see the rating of the mission, in the upper left corner of the screen you can see your own rating. If your rating is much lower thant the story mission, grind a few more sidequests.

All of this, is more or less how it was when you first played, but the difficulty of normal/hard/brutal/deadly has been nerfed somewhat. Although on brutal and deadly there's the addition of demons - something to look forward to.

That's actually not true. I just had a game where my entire Warband was spawn killed by Skaven and there was nothing I could do about it. A completely standard Normal difficulty wyrd stone rush ended in tragedy because apparently their group spawned close to mine and as soon as I loaded in after deployment, 5 skaven attacked the 3 warriors I had around my wagon. First warrior died before I even had my turn, a second was on low health. Then I do a little damage and the last two die. Now it's 5 Skaven vs my hero and leader in the early game (literally the 2nd mission), GG, warband destroyed.

This game has the potential to be as fun as XCOM but it has some rather serious design flaws that allows for instant destruction of your warband with no way of preventing it. Combined with a lack of saves (not in-combat, just after missions), it just becomes needlessly frustrating to slam your face against the wall until you've managed to grind out enough achievements to make your starting warband less worthless.

I'm honestly not quite sure what they were aiming for with this type of difficulty curve, where it's borderline impossible for new players to accomplish anything while it gets easier and easier the more you slam your face against the wall, regardless of actual campaign progress per warband. I'm not saying the game should hold my hand or anything, it's just ridiculous that the player has no input in terms of whether he survives or not. It basically becomes a dice roll, rather than something determined from skill and tactics.

Well, i played too much to give it back. so im now basically ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with a game that i cant play since i just see no point in starting my warband over and over again cause RNG ♥♥♥♥♥ me hard

Mitigating RNG is a core element of TBS games. Problem is players are too used to games like the remade X-COM, which hold the player's hand and forgive grave tactical mistakes, so when they play Mordheim, a game that ruthlessly punishes misplays in the early game, they get slaughtered and then hate on the RNG as being at fault.

If you get killed in the first turn, it's because you've chosen a mission with a deployment type that has the enemy right on you. You need to pay attention to the deployment description in the mission description and pass on anything that is "scattered" in the early game. In the very early game skip anything that doesn't have you start around your cart, if you have to skip days so be it.

I think the game could certainly do a better job of emphasising the importance of deployment types to players.

I do agree with the criticism that the AI is stupid and the difficulty curve is whack. The stronger your warband gets the easier the game becomes because you can punish the AI for its misplays very easily. The AI also doesn't build its characters well, so in late game your well built characters will slaughter their shotgun-stats characters.
