The formula relates to specific enchantments. Enchantments are specific to the piece of equipment, but can only be applied to blue equipment.
My example: I got a formula that turned to be the "Of the Squire" enchantment. I had a few people with blue weapons, but the enchantment wasn't available. Turns out "Of the Squire" only applies to armour. I was able to verify (on a piece of white armour) that the enchantment was on the list and unlocked, but was not applicable to white equipment.
So, really, you have to search the enchantment lists for each type of equipment to determine what goes where. I've not been able to find a concise list of enchantments...
-Go to a character loadout screen
-Click on an empty blue helmet (or pendant/amulet, doesn't matter), check the "Enchanting" tab : if your new enchantment goes to to the head slot, it'll appear on top of the list
-Repeat with armor, melee weapon (1h/2h doesn't matter), ranged weapon (a few are ranged-specific afaik, mostly the same as for melee though) and a shield.
Yes it's tedious.
Sounds like fun!
I have a lot of hours in this game, about half of it is waiting for the thing to load and waiting for opponents, the other half is actually fun.
