How is the solo content?
Hi guys!

How is the solo content of the game? Are the DLC packs worth the extra variety, if so?

Thanks in advance.

The game is designed for single player, its the multiplayer side of things that's somewhat under developed. Each warband has its own campaign story missions, a ton of development options and the DLC's provide even more ways of customising your warband so it fights how you want it too.

The game is a Single player game that functions for multiplayer but really needs a lot more Pvp league options, though the game is still functional for multiplayer its just not the focus.

The single player content has been keeping me entertained rather well. The AI is derpy at times, but instead of making me frustrated with it, it's a bit of a relief to have a gimmie mission, lol. Just fair warning, you WILL have characters die, Warbands crippled to the point of deletion, and general randomness hating you (at least this happened to me), but it's fun.

I'd have to say, yes, the DLC is worth it for the variety, but don't make the mistake that I did and try to build a Warband that has all of the options in it. Pick a goal (what you want the warband to do) and work that.

To be honest the solo content is the majority of the content in this game.

The game can be quite ruthless, especially with injuries and deaths of your characters, which I am told is accurate to the tabletop, and it makes the game quite challenging in the early game. With my first warband, I lost my Leader on my third battle and missed two shipments (out of four allowed) scrambling desperately to put together a a decent team, but that warband is still going strong. One of my favorite heroes is also the one that is missing an arm and a leg and still manages to take out his fair share every battle.

The story missions are quite different from regular random battles and I think add a lot of flavour, though their difficult varies quite a bit.

The random battles are quite fun. There is a optional, tiered system of difficulty from Normal ----> Hard ---> Deadly ----> Brutal, with each progressive difficulty giving the AI more bonuses and giving you more rewards if you succeed. Personally I find a Normal battle to be a little easy but due to the various placement of maps and deployments you can still have a bad time even on Normal.

The AI is somewhat decent given that the game is turn based but can be gamed, like any AI, mostly because of pathing issues. This is especially a problem with the larger Impressive units even now, and something I hope they will continue to work on. The AI can be given bonuses to somewhat compensate for the fact that they are dumb if you are having too easy of a time (see Normal ---> Brutal above)

Solo content is what you should buy the game for if you do buy. There is a very small active multiplayer base and, even then, most games will need to be planned in advance via the Gentlemen of Mordheim forum or a few others. Random lobby games are pretty much non-existent.

In terms of DLC, I have been doing my best to support this game by buying it all, but if a particular DLC is not interesting to you thematically then do not buy it. Each DLC Hero type all have some skills unique to them alone, so I would say that in some ways you are buying extra power for your team, but since I do not play multiplayer I can't say if these characters are notably more powerful than the basic heroes.

They do add a lot of flavour, including unique spell and skill effects, and they let you add unusual different race or gender options to warbands immediately, for example you can get a Skaven Poison Wind Globadier for your Chaos team, or a male Priest of Ulric for your Sisters of Sigmar. You can do this somewhat with the base game but in order to do so, you will need high reputation with certain in game factions to do so, which can take quite some time.

The Witch Hunters are simply a 5th warband option, fairly similar to Mercenaries from what I can see, but add some very famous Warhammer Fantasy themed characters including Witch Hunters with their classy hats, Warrior Priests of Sigmar, and Flagellents. If that appeals to you then they are pretty much an instant buy.

The DLC heroes aren't more powerful than the originals but they do remove weaknesses from the various warbands so they can appear over powered because they counter what your warband traditionally cannot.

Witch Hunters are closer to Possessed in how they approach a battle than Mercenaries who are all about tanks and ranged. They aren't quite the buffing powerhouse that Sisters bring to the mix either and they have nothing that can equal comet spam so each warband still holds its own role.

Unforgiving it's a learn of break kinda game,, Mistakes you make will stick with you for remainder the game. This range from unit/leader/hero permadeaths, to a range of crippling permanent injuries. Only save function is at beginning a map match and it only serve as a leave come back continue later option, there no loading functions aside from that.

Maps feel a bit like there maybe there are mostly a couple in various difficulties, being shuffled around. Would say warband customization is in mid range area there some options but not a lot in terms of appearences, stats of unit often place in one direction each one stat for heavy melee other range, heroes are left with a lot options. There a good amount customization for skills.

Think aside from campaign special mission, most mission are wyrdstone rush or marked for death, then occasionally seen ruins. But wyrdstone rush ad marked for death usually most frequently showing ones. They involve random deployment spots where sub goals to collect wyrdstones or kill specific characters in enemy warbad, general goal is to always rout enemy causing their warband morale to break, usually by killing members their warband stealing their wyrdstone wagon idol can also demoralize them too i believe.

If they couple options you get for maps don't appeal to you, there 2 options skipping a day or sending scouts to find others (last being costly). You'll be faced with request for wyrdstone throughout the game, failing to pay 4 shipments will result in campaign game over.

AI act stupid most time, but their compensated by favorable advantages and buff in stats.

Not really sure what else to say, think that informative i can be about it good or bad. Have not tried PvP element. Don't have WH DLC so maybe some others can clarifiy on that, or you can find some videos on youtube with it.
