Any other games like this?
The turn based gridless gameplay interests me. Are there other, maybe more modern titles, hopefully with some multiplayer features?

Necromunda does not qualify, it failed to thrive, hard.
Unfortunately, aside from that one, Mordheim is pretty unique as far as the central game-play goes.

The general grid based tactical combat concept has a few games, but I can't say directly like this one.
XCOM and XCOM2 are amazing.
Phoenix Point.
Massive Chalice.

There is nothing out there as good as this IMO.

There's a ton of decent suggestions going back for decades on the wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tactical_role-playing_game

Granted most aren't WH40K or even from a third person perspective. I can't think of anything that's exactly like Mordheim either...
Even so, every strategy fan simply must play:
Jagged Alliance 2 Gold (Stracciatella)
XCOM: UFO & Terror From the Deep (openxcom)

More modern games which were well above average and are here on Steam or GOG:
Shadowrun Dragonfall
Battle Brothers
Valkyria Chronicles

Not forgetting console stuff like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics - fire up the emulators! (and take a peak at Vimm's Lair)

Thanks guys. I'm not specifically looking for a warhammer game. I'm looking for a digital skirmish game, whatever it may be. I play tabletop skirmish games such as warcry, kill team and weekend warriors. But there doesn't seem to any actual digital counterparts.
The closest I found is Tactical Troops: Anthracite Shift.

Urtuk: The Desolation was mentioned a lot here a while back and it's worth a look.

Have reviewed that, will not repeat here lest I be redundant. :b

Massive Chalice has a similar feeling, in that you get attached to houses instead of individual members. Since they age and get permanent effects, you often need to replace members of your team. It is a fun game if a bit simple, I would like to see a sequel.

Isn't that game played on a grid?

Yes, you aren't going to find many gridless TBS games. Mordheim is so unique people recommend other games that capture the same feel in other elements.

Not multiplayer, but this might scratch that gridless tactical itch.

Thanks! I'll look into this one.

It's nowhere near the same tone, and if you're not into anime stuff then it may be a turn off also. But there is Makai Kingdom and Phantom Brave. They're both remakes/ports of PS2 games, so wouldn't really consider them newer either.
