What the hell is going on at Rogue Factor?
I just read Jonathan-Jacques Belletête is now creative director at Rogue Factor and he's working on something other than Necromunda. We have been told this is a bare bones tiny studio unable to release any information on Necromunda for over a year now although it's supposedly releasing within 8 months but they are hiring top talent for undisclosed projects? What is going on here. Is Necromunda vaporware and the scarce resources are shifting to something new? Perhaps Necromunda is going to be released and Rogue Factor won't be continuing beyond launch of it to focus on something else? This announcement doesn't make any sense especially since we've heard nothing and seen basically nothing regarding Necromunda for over 2 years now.

Read it for yourselves here: https://www.pcgamer.com/deus-ex-art-director-joins-mordheim-city-of-the-damned-studio-for-a-new-project/

BIZARRE for a company that's been silent for so long not even mentioning the current game people know they are apparently working on, but then publicly announce they are working on something else....

They have had alpha testing on Necromunda already. The game is progressing along. They readily admit the PR has not been the best.

As for a new project? Who knows. Maybe Necromunda is the new project.

C'mon Mordheim 2.

Software development including games is continuous process and people involved in there are not 100% occupied during development time. Necromunda can be in testing and polishing phase which means big part of personnel like programmers and artists are not busy with it anymore and can switch to other projects.

RF is silent mostly because of GW politics, do not be mad about them they have to keep secret and told it dozens of times.

Speaking of Mordheim 2 - Mordheim is Warhammer Fantasy Battles related but FB is not supported anymore, so if there is another team tactic in development it could be Warcry:

But of course it could be anything else as well.

not everyone is needed for every phase of development. maybe they are just working out concepts, art or engine tweaks for the next game while the others finish up necromunda.
you are right in saying that they should communicate more, especially when they talk about their next project already. but planing different projects and working on them in some way or another is nothing strange

War Cry seems to be more in line with the old school Realm of Chaos, in my opinion.

I suspect that this is just a normal development cycle thing. I suspect Necromunda is a real thing and will be released. Honestly, with the level of bugs and sheer brokenness of some AAA releases I would find it almost impossible for Necromunda not to release. I'll agree that the Public Relations and Marketing at Rogue Factor could use a serious upgrade, but I honestly don't know if they have the capital to do such a thing. No release is perfect, but for whatever other faults RF has they did the development through Early Access and Post Launch pretty darned well. They were rather transparent and responsive and ultimately delivered a pretty impressive product all things considered.

TLDR: They did a good job with Mordheim, give them the benefit of the doubt.

Considering how poorly their remakes of their older games have been over these last few years.. This is gonna be sacrilege..

This flies in the face of how Rogue Factor operates and has told us numerous times regarding not only Mordheim, but also dropping support for it entirely to focus on Necromunda.

I am going to kind of disagree though I think it's fair to say that they haven't made solid launches.

Silver Tower was a let down (it had a strong theme but poor mechanics/replay value) but Shadows over Hammerhal felt much closer to the original and offered a neat toolkit.

Newcromunda suffered from the one band a book but the style of gameplay is solid.

Bloodbowl a bit like above.

And Kill team... well, kind of a mess but if you do not pick up some of the garbage they release (which you're not forced to anyways) it can be fun.

Warhammer quest rerelease was a seriously terrible game, i felt more ripped off after buying that than i did after watching Aquaman.

Have not tried Newcromunda, i heard it's a lot like the old but D2 ?..

Was not aware they rereleased BB.. Was it not just the miniatures ?.. Last time i saw a release on it was back in 94.

Kill team is not excatly a remake of anything is it ?

Silver tower was pretty boring, yeah. SoH, specially with the add-ons, got much better, specially with the out of mission activities adding more variety.

They did re-release Bloodbowl. Currently it's like in its third season of the current iteration or some such.

I do consider Kill Team its own thing, really.

I know Necromunda was in closed alpha testing. A game is coming at some point.

Are there ultimately that many game development jobs in Quebec? It seems like a good fit for this guy personally.

I am not sure why Rogue Factor doesn’t take the success of Mordheim forward into a Mordheim 2 with more factions and a less buggy engine.
maybe they will be hired for the next deus ex game?
