Savescum. Copy your save at the end of a level when you about to level
Getting perfect mutation can easly take days/weeks and its pretty much impossible to plan anything till you get all 3 of them.

Er, no? Save scumming isn't named save scumming for nothing. It should only done before story missions, because those aren't very well made and can bug out occasionally.
What you should do for perfect mutations is earn a bit of gold and then look for hired swords with the mutations that suit your perfect build. Or play any other warband that doesn't have them.

Hire and Fire.

Yes, you certainly could do that. In fact, if one has funds to spare, one can hire some low levels just to free the space then fire them, so more new hired swords appear.

Learn the definition of savescumming, its pretty obvious, it isnt named that for nothing.

If you like hire and fire low levels, level them to 7 and repeat it again, do it. Id rather not waste my time.

Personally, save-scumming mutations pretty much defeat the whole point of Mutations in the first place. After all, they are basically free Mastery Skills at the expense of not getting to choose them, so doing just that can be seen as a bit gamey. But each to their own, personal mileage may vary.

I won't advocate pro or against save-scumming, I'll just say I've had the most fun with Mordheim when I built a Cult warband just to get heroes to rank 7 and then build them the best possible way with whatever mutations they got. "Heroes of Change" I called them. I usually fired them once they got to rank 10, just so others could take their place. It was fun to adapt to chance and get the best out of it.

You need to put your thinking caps on. You are managing a gang.

Save your gold and level your gang.

Check the hire pool carefully on a regular basis.

When a suitable candidate comes along, hire them. Sack the undesirables.

If you adopt this simple strategy you will find progress much easier. You can train and retrain your gang at will and far more efficiently than training them from scratch.

Indeed, you need to put your thinking hat on. Hire/firescumming is the same, but you will need to waste your time on it. Retraining your gang till level 7 over and over again, till you get good mutation. Getting suitable candidate is also random. So, to speed up process, you gonna hire lvl 0 ones.
If you use hire and fire strategy, theres no point at all, mutations are free slot. You either accept what you have, or savescum, or hire/firescum. With same result at the end, doing repetitive, timewasting stuff.
its a matter of preference, either you accept what you haveand play along or hire/firescumming or savescumming. To each his own, id rather play my game how i want from start.

The main reason this game is hot for me is absence of savescumming.
If I wanted to savescum the ♥♥♥♥ out of the game I would play XCOM2.

I didn't look for save files and I don't want to find them.
I learn to take my mistakes and live with them.

This. Being a relentless savescummer for over 30 years, this game showed me the error of my ways.

People with a single chromosome shouldnt communicate with others. Please restrain posting parody of logical conclusion next time.
This guide was to save the time, if people want to waste it to get same result in the end, i dont care. But seems like too many completly brainless responses. If you level/delete your chars countless of times its exactly the same, but a waste of time. seems like slow brains have hard time to catch up.

You just don't get it, do you.
The beauty of this game is making the most out of your current situation.

That means guys with hot mutations are your prized bread and butter, and you go to extreme lengths to save them, while the guys with bad mutations are dying back there to protect them.
Same in XCOM you cancel the mission that went sideways just to save your soldier with crazy cool bonus skills and leave trail of bodies behind to evac him.

If you just repeatedly mindlessly savescum - save yourself time, open save game editor, and just distribute whatever mutations you need. If mission went sideways - just load your savegame and do it until you succeed. Otherwise you are just doing repetitive stupid work scumming your save file over and over. If you are scumming, at least do it right and effective.
You cannot repeatedly succeed in everything in life, and the ironman games are exactly there to show this, bring the thrill of it, and teach you to deal with it.

Care to explain such aggressiveness? I might undestand it towards who called you a "troll" - though I don't condone it - but why to insult those who simply expressed their opinions against the method you explained?
Bubs Jul 15, 2020 @ 12:08pm
Guy also went to my profile to insult me, but I won. Fail troll is fail. Forget him and move on.

But this, is a golden response.

Wtf is this, endless trails of bodies, what? Game is easy enough on hardest difficulty. Also, YOU seems to not get it. Point of it was simple - to save some time. You realise, that you just repeat same crap over and over again. Idk. what tail of bodies you leaving and for which reason, but ic that you still repeat same actions over and over again. Mindlessly grind for hours, doins same repetitive actions instead of actually playing the game how you want.

@Bubs Troll go get some water for your nonexisting brain. Your brainless argument was "this dude have a hidden profile, hur.dur, so im not going to read anything and just going to leave meaningless comment, like a moron i am". Dumb american.
