Henchmen disposable?
I find my henchmen regularly get OOA and therefore on a regular basis I have to replace them as they die, pick up bad injuries, or just cost more to heal then hire a new one.

Is this the way this is supposed to work? Use the henchmen to protect the heroes/leaders?

Indeed it is. All a higher Rank Henchman is is a better meat shield/loot carrier, at least if one has to decide who is expendable. Also, a Rank 0 Henchman is worth less than a Cluster of Wyrdstone, so not only are Henchmen expendable compared to Heroes and Leaders, they are expendable compared to high quality loot as well.

Henchmens role is meat shields. That said, they shouldn't be regularly dying or being injured.

Try maces for +hit chance or daggers/agi for higher dodge. Helps them survive early game.

I generally use mace+hammer for weapons as it seems to give the best damage. And it is rare that I have a battle without losing at least one to a bad permanent injury - I don't see how it could be any other way...

You'll learn eventually. This game is hard to master.
yep ratham is right, most of the time ur henches will be used as "wall of shields", so ideally u need them wear heavy armor, shield and have maxed out toughness.

Many people like to get attached to their warband members. Mordheim is too brutal to do such a thing. My advice to people is to treat your heroes as your prize warriors and never get attached to a henchman. You need to sacrifice things at times and you should always choose one of them over a hero or leader.

Or play Undead. Your henchmen are literal zombies. A tar pit meant only to occupy the enemy while your Vampire Lord and Thralls sweep the enemy

This page[mordheim-city-of-the-damned.fandom.com] gives general strategy against the Undead for a starting and leveling warband. It applies to all general hard-to-fight enemies.

Using your henchmen to the best of their ability looks at what they can do and what they cant if they pass a terror test or if they fail. Making them flee (getting a free hit from all enemies in contact) is a viable alternative when they become useless.

I once had this Nun who had one eye, one arm and only one leg, Funny thing is, I kept sending her out to die but, she just kept winning! She really helped me level the rest of my Warband before she finally bought it! So don't be so quick to get rid of members. Experienced team members are worth more even with some injuries than a new one.

The ironic things about zombies is that despsite being the most expendable henchmen in the game they are also very reliable. Being undead mean they are immune to most annoying injuries and fully recover most of the time or just die cleanly saving you the treatment costs.

Zombies are incredible. I still have the first two I got at the start of my playthrough. Now they have Web of Steel and make excellent meat shields.

Disposable??? Never, mine do laundry, take out the trash, wash my car, get stones, get stoned. It's all in how you use them man. Now off for coffee, work is done here. :redshirt:
