I think Gameknight even made videos of such a strategy. He called it "Globadead":

Several reasons; money being one thing, but also the allure of the Vampire itself or being coerced into service after being captured: Serve or die?
Skaven aren't really known for their resolve you know! ;)
Don't see a problem with it really - you can come up with just as many good reasons as the opposite :) Thought this was outdebated before :P
Then the others wade in, corpse far* and rip it to shreds. My Thralls with Heavy armor, shields and a nice weapon are absolutely spectacular.
What is absolutely fabulous about them is that if you deselect Ghouls, only the Crypt Horror needs Dodge, and it starts at 70. All the others can just load up on Strength, Toughness, Weapon Skill and Accuracy.
That being said, the Priests of Ulric are awesome in the Sisters of Sigmar outfit for the same reason. The entire Warband can be built around Heavy Armor, Shields and Parry. They also have a better Statline than the Jeroes available to the sisters, and they're not restricted to blunt Weapons.
All in all, Mordheim is coming together.
I so agree :) Most leagues do prohibit the use of multiple Globadiers though! :)
I faced this combo in my league, seems pretty broken to me. Should i consider asking for a ban on the globadier our league? Or is their good counters that I am not seeing?
fielding 2 seems like the perfect poison wet dream.
but it in truth weakens your band a good deal and takes a good player to make it work against a human adversary.
and late game, they suck anyway(if they are poison dudes, they can still be awesome for shooting non poison stuff)
the globalier's OPness shows more when only one is fielded:
in leagues it then becomes mandatory to have one, and any didpwit will have one as a backup uninspired easy solution, and so low level matches turn to be boring and repetitious, with the guy with the gloabdier winning 9 times out of 10.
what is needed is globadier regulation in leagues, they should be limited to only skaven bands and only them, because otherwise all other chaos bands will be very tempted to use the globadier cheap trick, i.e. throw one globe and remove a third to half of the life on 3 units.
I quite disagree about the globadiers sucking at end-game; they can poison, which in itself isn't a lot of damage, but the damage over time is insanely good for 3 OP - no other unit has that kind of conversion rate on OP to DPS.
That said, they can also dish out a massive 120 AOE healing every turn, 2 Globadiers result in possible 240 AOE healing. That can make most enemies heads spin.
Pair that with their incredible ability to shoot and you do have one of the most OP units in the game.
Limiting them to only Skaven is one way of doing it, but all you do is create a lot of skaven warbands.
I think it's working well in our league so far.
