Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 8GB WINDFORCE Graphics Card Artifacting
GPU in the title is brand new and the game freezes randomly and artifacts - sometimes desktop resumes - sometimes it doesnt - any ideas. GPU great on modern more demanding games like Shadow of Tomb raider. Any ideas?

Have you updated your drivers? Usually doing that helps a lot.

If on laptop (unlikely, I know), occasionally Steam makes Mordheim also use the wrong card.

The drivers were up to date according to the device manager update driver option through Windows. I have since been on to the nVidia website and downloaded the software that manages nVidia drivers specifically - i believe it cam with and update too - so will trial that tonight.

This is on a desktop PC - but will check the control panel in nVidia 3D is it? to make sure its set to use the card

Its definitely not heat as ive tried several temp monitors and they all read below 50 degrees

Unfortunately, since I never had the Card issue, I do not recall what the fix was, only that the issue exists. But searching for how to make Steam use a different card should probably yield sufficient results if it is up to that.

Yeah its just crashed out again while typing this reply - completely freezes my brand new high spec rig up too - my old previous build with a AMD Radeon R9 290X didnt have the issue and ive seen on google lots of people had it with that specific card too, youtube videos as proof. strange

Really odd.

...Sounds stupid to ask, but have you tried turning the PC off and on again?
First&Only Jan 28, 2019 @ 1:43pm
i have tried rebooting several times - it started happening more and more frequently. Ive been playing mordheim again last few weeks and can't recall it freezing / crashing at all the first week, over weekend it happened every few hours, today its crashing when im 5 minutes in on warband management screen.

Holy s**t. Then I have literally no idea. Good luck on that.

really frustrating to be fair as ive missed playing the game, only option is to uninstall - reinstall - verify integrity - check all drivers are up to date and try again. Shame as im about to finish act 1 with undead.....

Tried checking which Card Steam is using (see above)?

my laptop has the built in HD and then the nvidia GPU but this PC is a micro ATX mb

Appreciate that only one person replied but I thought I’d update. Seeing as this is a latest generation card and this game will continue to be played for years on newer cards etc.

I uninstalled mordheim.

I uninstalled the nvidia experience software. And then rolled back the driver to 25.1634 (even though this driver version had same problem)

Reinstalled mordheim. Verified the files.

Completely turned off PC and then took it apart. Specifically the GPU. Mainly to inspect for damage. Suspecting a faulty card. Nothing seen.

Put it all back together.

Game ran this morning for 45 minutes on highest settings. Not a flicker. Very stable. Perhaps it’s going to happen again but as long as I can play at least an hour to do a mission I will have to take that as a win.

Congrats on the thorough succesful attempt.

I figure no one else answered since they neither had a clue what would be the cause of your issue.

yeah i figured that was the case - not a dig at anyone by any means.
Sadly it was only a temporary repreive as its happened again today at lunch several times and then also on another game Regicide (which has zero demand on graphics).
So its being sent back under warranty - my suspicion is a bad GPU

Running this game on a surface book (i7, 16GB) with geforce GPU, and the game runs perfectly when in compatibility mode for windows 8, but exhibits random glitches when this compatability mode is turned off.
