Just reinstalled this game, but it won't start
So I thought I'd play this game again after not having done so in a long time (sadly, no more DLC ever got released...). Since then I bought a new computer, so I had to install the game again.
When I launch the game, I just get an infinite loading screen of death (mordheim banner with little green comet in the corner blazing away). I found one thread with a similar issue, however the suggested fix (installing on recommended C drive (my SSD), rather than my custom D folder (HDD)) did not work; the issue is the same regardless of the installation folder. I've tried verifying the game files as well.

Anyobody know what might be causing this issue?

Update your drivers. That is what it was for the last person who had this issue.

Then you might try Verifying File Integrity (right-click Mordheim->properties->local files->verify integrity).
I went into the Gforce Xperience and installed the latest driver. Veryfied game file integrity, no luck sadly.

any other drivers that might cause tthe issue?

Have you tried the steps from the Basic Troubleshooting, especially:

5. If you recently updated to win10, make sure your Documents folder is not in read-only
(steps described in the following post)

6. Be sure that the full path to Mordheim installation folder does NOT contain any special characters (like "=" or "!").

Thank you, DonCarlos, there is indeed an issue with my 'my documents' folder being read-only. Sadly, I cannot unclick that option because it resets as soon as I reopen attributes. Command prompt doesn't seem to work wither. I'm working my way through the internet trying to find people with siilar issues, and so far it seems that it is a onedrive issue (why 'my documents' has to be in the 'onedrive' folder to start with, is a mystery for me).

Any ideas?

EDIT: I opened onedrive on my PC, which immediately started synchronising (which took a while since I never even use onedrive). After that was done, it automatically removed all the read-only restrictions from my folders and Mordheim started just fine. Weird.

thanks for all the help everyone!

Thanks for this, I had tried everything and this tread pointed me to onedrive which was the problem. Log in and sync'ed up and game started working again - annoying that Steam couldnt tell you this is what was stopping the game from loading.

I have never even opened OneDrive as far as I know.
After it synchronized the game magically was able to start again. (Heresy I say!)
Did any of you fellows delete your safe files in your document folder to start the game fresh? Because I think that's what started the problem.
Anyway. For someone who needs help:
-Search for "OneDrive" in Windows Search
-Open it
-Select "Personal Vault/Safe"
-Follow the Instruction of "OneDrive"
-OneDrive will synchronize with your PC
-Start the Game

At least that's how it worked for me.
Good luck you doomed souls in Mordheim!

Edit: Okay that worked just one time for me:
So I fixed it another way.
-Go to your Mordheim folder (right click on the game in Steam, select properties and then "Installed Files" then "Search"
-Right click on the main game and select "Properties"
-Select "Compability" and activate "Run as adminstrator" and change to an older Windows System under "Compability Modus"
(Windows 7 worked for me)

I switched mine to Windows 8 Compatibility and it finally loaded for me.
