They cant loot. take 2 warrior slots, big ones cant enter inside the buildings (this one is a huge deal for me).
The good thing about them is this;

When you maxed them, they fight like hell.
On the other hand, if you build you warband around a impressive, like possessed can do, then it can have awsome results.
I built a chaos spawn with max accuracy, blood offering, vital strike, fatality and supported by WoD and warcry. Ripper, extra blade and claw feet. It's crazy.
The Ogre, I'm not so sure about this guy. He's stuck Parry tanking (Sword + second 1H), at a decent 115%, but that leaves him defenseless vs Chaos or the Rat Ogre. His attacks are weaker than the Maiden's (68-88, sword-mace), but with more hps (560) at 50% armor. He's got Fear, but that steadily becomes less and less useful as the game moves on. Mercs may be better off with two more flexible Heroes.
Executioner is pretty good. Sure, he can't loot, or use levers, but that Pyre of the Righteous is hella useful for the team. His Dodge is solid (120%), and damage respectable (78-93, great sword) even before you account for the 25% chance of setting his targets on fire. Also has access to Burn the Witch (+1/2 red cost to all spells). But lower hps (472) and armor (35%) are serious problems for him. He's more a support-y type of Impressive than the others. Valuable, but maybe not for you.
Rat Ogres are really great if you're into absolute carnage. I'm fairly sure they have the biggest potential single-hit damage output in the game (90-106 before modifiers). Most Impressives get 6m movement, Rat Ogres get 7m (tied with Crypth Horror). Decent Dodge (115%), but a bit of a glass cannon at 504 hps and 30% armor. And then there's his biggest downside. You absolutely have to have a Sorceror holding his leash, or another character with Guidance. Otherwise, the Rat Ogre will just stand around staring at the cobblestones the whole match.
The Chaos Spawn is an absolute lottery. It all comes down to what mutations it gets. With three limb mutations, it could do 61-81 un-parry-able swings with crazy hit and crit chances. With three body mutations it could have 135% Dodge and 47% Melee Resist before skills. Heck, Claw Foot would give it an insane 8m movement rate. About the only standard is it's 472 hps and 30% armor, with the caveat that while it's immune to injuries, every time it's downed there's a 20% chance of it just going 'poof' back to the Warp. There's just no way to truly know how this Impressive will turn out. Which means it's an Impressive I'd only recommend to gamblers. Or masochists.
The Crypt Horror is as quick as a Rat Ogre (7m movement), but incredibly well defended. 140% Dodge and 50% Melee Resist means that it's the only Impressive that really can run with both Sidestep and Defensive Stance (just depends on how many attacks per turn you expect for which to use). With 62% Crit Resist for gravy. Death Stench access makes him useful for the whole team. The 496 hps and 30% armor are usually only a concern early on, before you can train those defenses up. 73-88 damage (axe-mace) is not too shabby. Terror is nice, but wears off steadily. He's on par with the Maiden for tanky nature in the late game.
demon can appear on deadly and brutal mission once your warband reach level 6 and at least one of yuor warrior is level 6 too, but the % is low.
If you go for mini-maxing or pvp then no, they are not worth 2 heroes. You do get more utility from 2 heroes than you do get from 1 impressive. However running an Impressive is fun.. so yes, if you are not looking to run the most effective of all things effective, but are willing to do things for your own enjoyment, they are definitely worth it.
For not looting though, I personally am trying to keep one around for story missions. Every story mission I've done so far has had at least one impressive and/or daemon, and what I've found is that impressives are the best units to deal with them in the story maps.
My primary experience is with the Rat Ogre and Spawn, using a cheerleader boss (promoted Eschin Sorcerer and Magister, respectively). Both can completely destroy any single target including an enemy Impressive on Deadly in a single turn. With some decent rolls and some Delay use, they often knock out 3 non-Impressive units in one turn.
Great summary, just a little detail, those 2H weapon damages are for the first strike and as you can make 4 (or more with leadership habilities) the last strike is going to be 55% of those numbers (even less for the 5th atack and so on) .
There are several threads on this forum about the subject and when you reach 4 atacks dual wielding is superior to 2H in general (for 3 atacks or less 2H does more damage).
Those two are the only impressive I have used enough to have a personal opinion and they add so much fun to the game, I use them with dual sigmarite whammer and dual swords (Ex) and with the respective abilities they crit quite often.
You just crush enemies when you have one. Even when they bring their impressive...
That Ogre is just too crushing. I have a Purple Hammer on him and everything he goes against dies in one round...
Yeah I bring him along sometimes, but when I just want a good old fashioned slug out, I bring two heroes instead.
