Paranoia - obsessive spec
Uddhava - countering spec
Pyro - planning spec
1. Maiden: + ranged resistant, can pick stuff and use consumables, can go inside buildings and has very nice support (spells from her team).
- She must have armor prof and is kind of slow but for me she is the best.
2. Rat Ogre: + damage, like a lot, unparriable and being large is a very good perk.
- stupidity, low armor.
3. Excecutioner: + as his name says he is a killer, good dodger, the pire thing is also very good buff for the team.
- Low armor, not large.
4. Ogre: Large but kind of boring, can be good only at parring.
The Spawn I haven't used because chaos cultist don't apeal to me that much, maybe after finishing all the other bands. According to what I have read he could be the best one or a close second.
Cript horror I haven't used it because I can't stand him, looks unfinished stetically in textures and dull, but he is better than the executioner in theory.
Short and eloquent
1.Chaos Spawn - A variety of builds work for this guy. Most people like pure damage builds but a babysat tank can still take out a few guys in a turn using blood offering and recieving WoD and Order. He's #1 for me because of personal preference.
2. Maiden of Sigmar - Another impressive that gets its full potential from babysitting and Sisters are the best babysitters. She's pretty much a beefier Matriarch or Purifier except she is immune to ranged and doesn't tire. Build her for damage and try to keep most of your fighting indoors. I only put her above the rat ogre because she can get into buildings to get annoying gunners.
3. Rat Ogre - AMAZING damage but REQUIRES a babysitter. The Chaos Spawn and Maiden do best with at least one other unit focusing some points on them every turn but for this guy it is a must have. Go pure damage and eat the head of anybody that gets too close.
4. Ogre Mercenary - Big scary dude that can tank. Great for letting enemies pile on.
5. Executioner - Pyre is pretty amazing. A well built warpguard will kick his ass if he doesnt use it for some reason though.
6. Crypt Horror - At least he has terror
2.) Crypt Horror - Terror and excellent stat distribution, plus he is big yet can walk into houses.
3.) Rat Ogre - The most damaging unit in the game, a wrecking ball that kills and dies fast.
4.) Maiden of Sigmar - Strong for a non-large unit, and can use spells for utility so she's always performing. Can get the best armor absorption out of the impressives.
5.) Mercenary Ogre - Parry if anything limits him, but he's mediocre compared to the others and especially the factions other hero choices. Still, he can get good armor absorption and be the most tankiest impressive if he wants too.
6.) Executioner - Pyre is decent, but it limits secondary abilities usefulness when using sidestep. Use Pyre or an extra ability with sidestep every other turn? His main things are the additional damage and 5 passive slots. His downsides are not being large, forced into dodge and the easiest impressive to kill in the game.
I don't know about the others since I've only played Merc up to this point... but that is dead on.
...My Ogre has 680 wounds, and a 55 armor rating before Guard Stance and that's without even putting any real effort into it. Once he's in Guard stance things just barely scratch him.
One handed weapons will be sitting there barely scratching him for like 15 then 20 damage then 25 then 18... I swear sometimes I could put the entire enemy team on him and he'd still last a good 3 rounds.
I've taken him toe to toe with all the other impressives, and he's the one who comes out on top.
All because..... he's just that unkillable.
A decent Spawn build will rek him tho. His armour absorption is useless vs crist and the Spawns Dodge potential is unrivalled.
Well I won't lie that does seem to be the only Impressive that can bring him to almost half health before he kills it, and I realize that's the AI and not a player build...
Still they can barely touch him he's just that unkillable.
Anyway his stats are:
Strength 19/20
Toughness 14/20
Agility 15 (19)/15 (19)
Leadership 20/20
Intelligence 10/15
Alertness 14/14
Weapon Skill 20/20
Ballistic Skill 3/3
Accuracy 13/16
Skills:
Daredevil (m)
Adrenaline Rush (m)
Sidestep (m)
Fear (m)
Knowledge: Tactics (m)
Fatality (m)
Avoid (m)
Resilient
Gear:
Helmet of Evasion
Light Armor of Agility
Axe of Perforation x2 (in weapon set 1)
Axe of Luck x2 (in weapon set 2)
Even though I have other level 10 warbands, I just don't like impressives so I haven't bothered to hire them.
Well I'm not sure how far the dodge goes. I mean you literally run out of places to put points after maxing out his weapon skill for the Ogre.... so you end up maxing out his accuracy too. I've never calculated it... so I don't know the percentage it removes.
And the reality is he's got a surprising amount of melee resist too that I never would have expected for something so huge so they miss a lot more than I would have expected... . I gave him Defensive Stance as an alternate if I ever really needed it (which I never have) and that puts him around the 55+ melee resist as an option.
I'd have to look at the character sheet to be sure, but I haven't seen anything capable of actually doing enough damage to be able to take him down before he kills it.
Huh, Ogres can be a dodge tank, too!
Sure, with a book, so after getting rank 4 relationship with the third faction? (Don't remember which one).
And you have to use more skills to increase dodge which could be used elsewhere (knowledge Mordheim is mandatory for me on this guy) OR go arround in cloth (EDIT:I prefer +15% armor over +20% dodge).
Wendigo showed his build for dodge tank Ogre, but I invested on rep with factions 1 and 2 (for Warrior priest and didn't got him yet) so I really can't try it out for now... Maybe when I resume my Merc band, for now I'm thrilled with hunters and undead.
Even without books, he can get 90 Dodge. Isn't that sufficient given his HP pool and resists?
Edit: And if cloth, 110. And on a unit with 500-plus HPs potentially, cloth may be not that bad...
