Rogue Factor and Focus Interactive announce Necromunda: Underhive wars
We have HUGE news to share with you!

We can now reveal that Necromunda: Underhive Wars is under development! The game will explore the grim reality, ruthless combat, and power struggles of the Underhive. As in the tabletop game, your goal as a Gang Leader will be to assemble your gang and challenge rivals for control over individual domes and entire sections of the Underhive. Only after countless battles and cold betrayals might you have the chance to retire peacefully to the opulent upper levels of the Hive. Of course, this is easier said than done.

Necromunda: Underhive Wars will be a turn-based tactical RPG running on Unreal Engine 4. Needless to say, we feel honoured to work with Games Workshop and Focus Interactive on such an epic license. We're excited to take the knowledge and experience we've gathered working on Mordheim: City of the Damned and apply it to Necromunda: Underhive Wars.

As a community, you have given us tremendous support with Mordheim. It's essential to us to maintain and strengthen the relationship we've built with each one of you over the past few years. We look forward to sharing more about our game and gathering your feedback and opinions on what you think Necromunda: Underhive Wars should be. Since it’s so early in the game’s development, it will be difficult for us to share much in the coming months. This is why we ask for your patience. (You can bet we're as eager as you to reveal more about the game!).

We can, however, share one piece of concept art! This is an exploratory concept of an industrial dome that we have created here at Rogue Factor, to imagine what Necromunda could look like.

We’ll be heading to Paris on February 1st and 2nd for Focus Interactive's What’s Next event. This will allow us to meet with the gaming press and talk about Necromunda.

We hope you enjoy!

Cheers!
The Rogue Factor Team

This sounds fantastic... though I wonder how long before my beloved Scavvies get to shine in mutated hivelights.

Oh, no; this means no more work on Mordheim?!!! :(

Hi Lampros,

As you know, we’re a tiny studio for the scale of games we make. Developing a new game takes a lot of effort. So imagine developing a new game AND changing engine (to Unreal 4)! For this reason, the focus here at Rogue Factor has now switched to Necromunda. We certainly don’t discredit the idea of doing more DLCs for Mordheim but at this moment, we decided that the best option is to concentrate our efforts on building a strong foundation for Necromunda.

We’ll definitely let the community know if at some point in the future we manage to squeeze in additional content for Mordheim.

Cheers,

JM

We wish you guys the best luck on this new project and we know you have everything to make a game at least as awesome as Mordheim.

We hope that the development of Mordheim live on :/

However, could you guys confirm if there's still hope for development of new content to Mordheim?

He just answered, and it looks like Mordheim is done :(

Got it; thanks for the prompt response. While I am sad at the likely end of substantive development of Mordheim, I wish you luck with Necromunda. And while I am not a fan of sci-fi settings, perhaps this will be an exception! ;)

Sounds promising.
Similarly mildly depressed about the Mordheim being at the moment at its final stage, but time moves on (to my endless resentment).

Not that I know anything about the sourcematerial, unlike with Mordheim.

Wish you luck.

Same boat here. I've been an avid fan of the Warhammer fantasy for decades, but I've never gone near the 40k stuff.

Since the dwarf treasure hunters are a no go can't we compromise and get some squats at Necromunda :) ?

With me all else of those who played Fantasy-proper also played 40k, so I have some general idea.
Never got into 40k myself, as I found the gameplay itself quite uninspired, and I never liked mass-ranged combat much. It just didn't offer me anything I couldn't get better from the Fantasy.
Obviously I know next to nothing of Necromunda, so my misgivings may not apply.

Necromunda is a Hive World in the Warhammer 40k universe. Basically, on the World itself are huge Spires where people live and work. As time goes, they keep building the Spire higher and the bottom section becomes abandoned, filled with toxic wastes and dumped chemicals. In the abandoned sections lives Gangs who fight for the resources that were left behind.

Although it is taking place in the 40k universe, Necromunda is not about Space Marines and large scale conflicts, it’s about small scale battles (similar to Mordheim) by gangs who seek control of the remaining resources lost in the abandoned Underhive.

So unless you can’t stand a setting of sci-fi mixed with a post-apocalyptic touch, there are good chances you’ll enjoy Necromunda if you liked Mordheim :)

No more warbands :(.

Can't wait for Necromunda though.
crimsonsun Jan 18, 2017 @ 6:20am
Necromunda is 'the skirmish game' as it were, the rules for TT mordheim were a somewhat weak adaption of Necromunda, the setting and scale are far more workable in Necromunda, which is very gritty and low power when thinking of 40k in general.

If anyone has specific questions I'm happy to answer either on here or via pm as I have all the Necromunda material and have been a member of Yakromunda for years.
