Computer turning off when play.
Twice now the computer has completely shut down while on sisters mission in the library. Complete shut down requiring litterally to reset the powersupply breaker. Power supply might be going bad but doubt it. Played other demanding games and this has not happened. AMD graphics card read some the comments from last year wondering if some kind programing issue.

Sounds like overheating. Perhaps a driver update?

very likely what uddhava said.

you either overheat and it's Q-tip time, or you have a powersupply issue.

mordheim is not responsible.

i would bet on your GPU fan and cooler, odds are you have a nice blanket of dust.

I have occasionally experienced this, but I also experience the exact same issue in XCOM2 and the current Battletech Beta, which leads me to the same conclusion as the above posters. I'm on Nvidia though

Mordheim is a demanding game on low spec PCs, but it is easy to turn the settings down so you dont make your rig explode. Just tone the settings down a bit. Or clean the dust out yeh.

As someone on a low-end PC that can't run Mordheim "normally" at all due to my lack of upgradeable video card on a laptop that come up short for the requirements... here's how I manage to make the game work without overheating:

1) Before opening the game, lower my screen resolution. It's only temporary and I change it back after gaming sessions. This is normal for me to do for any game that I see framerate issues on.

2) I alternate visual modes: 320x200 runs fast, but is blurry as sin when fullscreened, and is hard to read. So I use 320x200 for normal gameplay, but when I need to read the details, I Alt+Enter back to normal size, and then I click Maximize on the window. This adjusts the resolution to be the screen size, so the text appears clearly. Afterwards, I just set it back to 320x200 and fullscreen again.

Before I started doing all this... I played at a slightly higher resolution (I think the 680x??? one) and the choppiness was "fine" for offline play since it's turn based, but some story missions in particular (This one Act 2 Human Merc mission, HINT HINT) repeatedly and consistently overheated my laptop until it shut down.

EDIT: And yes, with the exception of resolution itself, everything was at the lowest possible settings even before I started doing the resolution flip-flop method.

AMD crash were either blue screen or complete freeze. It's more likely an overheating issue. It can be on your graphic card or on the cpu itself. Try to install a software monitoring this (Open hardware monitor, real temp, speedfan and such) and to reproduce the issue. If you see an issue with it then try 1 to underclock the problematic component, or to rise the temperature tolerance (pay close attention to the hardware manufacturer max tolerance of ALL the components on your machine, or you might burn something else on it).

And as Happy said, a complete clean up inside the computer is NEVER a bad idea.

PC shuts off. I've only experienced this with Mordheim, and not even Total War: Warhammer on Ultra settings... Mordheim is poorly optimized with the BIOS and you need to adjust your PC energy usage in your BIOS.

Turned out to be power supply issue. Haven't played the game yet with new power supply but should be ok now if file was not corrupted from constant shut downs. The power supply was failing when video card requested more power for gaming apps it was overheating then turning the computer off when it failed. Strange thing was the power supply was ok as long as the AMD card did not request more power.

Should be noted my computer while bit old is not outdated. Core i7 unlocked (over clocked for some games not Mord though) with 32g DDR 3 ram. AMD 280x gaming card.

Also dust was not the issue almost none in it.

Iiinteresting. Think this may be the issue I am having as well; just tracked the last PC I built and it looks like I didn't order a new PSU, which means I'd have pulled one out of my old machine, which had a much lower spec and therefore lower power draw.

Might be shopping for a new PSU soon. Thanks for posting your solution.

Jesus Ranylyn that post was absolutely horrifying.

Sorry. I bought Mordheim because it was 75% off and I'd been wanting it for awhile, knowing full well my comp wasn't good enough YET - but I had plans to upgrade. Problem was... turns out I couldn't upgrade anything besides RAM, due to the way it's built. So I decided to see what I could make work as is.
