Witch hunters a fun warband
I am looking forward to make a fun Witch Hunter Warband for PVE. I want to make Captain or maybe more ranged or semi ranged. Got all Dlc except smuggler. Want to try the tactic Warband since last was Mercs Lvl 10, and the band is Lvl 10. Anyone got any suggestions? Should I start the band as a lvl 5 band? Actually started one with thunderblos weapon on Captain and made 4 more leaders.
Please feel free to give me some inputs of your thoughts. I am still a newbie in this game but love how hard and rewarding it is.

Cheers

I do recommend starting with a Rank 0. That gives milder Warband learning curve.

I did use a Hybrid Captain who shot stuff until it was the time to Dodge Tank stuff. Worked well.
Flagellants make for absurdly reliable Dodge Tanks due Leadership Immunity.
Zealot needs Warrior Priest for Buffs and Healing to make proper use of their Passive.
Executioner is murder. He kills stuff really fast, and can noty be avoided unlike most Impressives sans Maiden.

Witch Hunters are fun, I'll agree. Executioners are like Death Ballerinas, and their Pyres are among the best WB buffs around.

If you want your band to be ranged, then you really should get the smuggler, even if she is out of place on the team from a lore perspective.

I would recommend you try out the DIE in Mordheim ruleset I've created.

This ruleset will challenge you and make you a better Mordheim player - doing that with a warband that you don't have too many feelings invested in is never a bad thing :)

Rules are here:

My WH band is Leader (sword and free hand with Light Armor); WolfPriest (2H sword with Light Armor), Templar Knight (Halberd with Heavy Armor), Smuggler (Rifle), WarriorPriest (Sigmhammer & Shield with Light Armor); Henchmen Flagellant (some 2H and some 1H and free hand), and Zealots (1H and shield with Light Armor).

With 2 story missions left what are my conclusions...hmn...probably the best hero lineup I have played with...the Leader can be squishy though (3 OOA)...I tired the Witch Hunter Hero as a ranged but he didnt perform very well...Deny the Herctic spell very useful by Warrior Priest...Flagellants with Sidestep can last long in combat and the Zealots with Web of Steel can be effective tanks even in Light Armor.

I agree that WH has the best Heroes. But I'd also add that the worst Henchmen - at least on the Order side! ;)

Anyone ever make Flagellants that do not go OOA after every 5 mission? ;)

Max Agility and the rest in Strength. They were obscenely reliable. Indeed, due the LD immunities, I think I lost fewer of them than any other type of Henchman.

But RNG flux means they will get hit at some point, and then melted cheese? :(

I wish they had some Toughness-related buffs - as they sort of do on the tabletop (extra Toughness there).

At some point. but quite rarely, since they Gret Flailed stuff to death just fine. That is, anything that didn´t already get murdered by Executioner.

Since I don't like to use Impressives, I need Henchmen to hold up for multiple rounds. So I cannot imagine Flagellants as efficient there as a high Melee Resistance/Parry Warrior in heavy armor or extremely high Dodge Novice. But I have a free Flagellant that is Rank 7, so I might test with this guy.

My Novice even tanked a Blood Letter for 3 whole rounds without getting hit, and I only got her off the Blood Letter when he failed a Terror test, and she couldn't do the Prayer of Swiftness and Sidestep routine (gave me 120 percent Dodge).

Yup, maybe because, unlike the majority here, i do not see henchmen as expendables.

Flagellant shines in keeping the enemy stuck reliably, and when the heat is too much one can simply Disengage and bring another in.
And with Great Flails and WH semi-Insult Active, they do very decent damage even without offensive Skills.

Survival is THE ONLY THING for me! ;)

So share the Flagellant build? ;)
