This game makes snipers unplayable
As an Overwatch player who plays snipers on that game and is used to stable and smooth high frames and low ping this game feels impossible to play as a sniper. The frames are always dropping and fluctuating massively and my ping in very often in the yellow zone. The game constantly stutters and I literally see characters teleporting, skipping frames and micro-disappearing. I have AT&T 1 Gig fiber internet and a high-end PC, there is absolutely no reason why my ping should be yellow and my frames should be going up and down like a roller-coaster. It feels like every shot I take, every action I do has a delay and the enemy is always 3 steps head of me. Using UE5 was a mistake and the horrible optimization makes precision shooting impossible.

Sounds like a problem with your setup
Your upload and download rate don't really matter much, it's location to which sever.

Where are you located and what server are you selecting? Tbh they could use some more servers given the game's success, but so long as it's near you then you should be fine-- they work for everyone else in our discord.

I am running on a mid range PC and get good frames, in fact the game runs butter smooth for me and I have a 6 year old CPU. I would start wondering if you were having a heating issue if you have anything RTX 3070 or above, as that is what I am playing on.
Yeah the servers for this game are terrible. I see a ton of people complaining about it and checked a bunch of different streams to see if it was only me. The yellow lag indicator is basically a permanent feature in the 15+ streams I looked at and the all have rubberbanding in some form.

Let me guess, you're playing on Wi-Fi.

It's most likely not a problem with your setup, don't listen to that dude. (or it could be, I don't know how good your PC is)

The server quality is awful because the the company running the game is based in China. (NetEase Games)

Yes the game has a few servers located in the US and various other places but the ping on them is abnormally high because those US servers are also sending data packets back to their headquarters in Hangzhou China thus giving the servers even more overhead.
(your PC -> game servers -> Chinese headquarters servers)

It also doesn't help that you can't even play the game offline because it's basically just ALWAYS ONLINE even when you play offline modes like shooting range. So you can't even experience what the game is like in 0-1 ping. smh

Also, whatever back end processes their network is doing (other than important game data) is also causing CPU spikes thus you get those occasional CRAZY FPS dips every now and then while in a match even though your PC was running the game at 80+ FPS no problem just a moment ago. It also has crazy high ram usage. This goes beyond just " unreal engine 5 bad " or " get off Wi-Fi. "

All of the dudes saying " get a better PC " are talking out of their ass while having beefy30 series and 40 series cards. (you were scammed if you bought a 40 series card btw)

I'm in FL and I have the 3 US servers that are on green selected, which show a much lower ping than what I get in actual matches, which is usually on the yellow zone. Also, I have an AMD 5800X3D chip and Aorus RX 7900 XTX card, which doesn't go above 75°C hotspot and I play on low settings to get the most frames possible and I still have all these problems I mentioned.

Nope, cabled Ethernet connection. In fact, just bought a new Cat 8 heavy duty cable.
I do not have a problem and am using an older setup.
Remove frame generation.

I have pretty good PC. AMD 5800X3D chip, 32 GB of RAM and Aorus Elite RX 7900 XTX card, and I play on low settings to get the most FPS possible. I have also tried allowing the app (both .exe files) through my Firewall, tried that Control Flow exception trick in Windows that some are suggesting. Copied some Engine.ini file from another post someone was suggesting. I even got a program called Exit Lag which I'm paying for which is supposed to help reduce latency and I still get stutters, massive frame drops and high ping. :(

I understand that the HQ is located in China, but I'm in the U.S. (FL) and I have seen many people playing this game on YouTube that are also in the U.S. yet they have a much lower ping than I do. They just need to seriously optimize this game and fix these problems. I'm not the only one complaining about this stuff, many other people are too.
This game is pretty limited competitive wise because most PVP games usually cater to get the most players possible. So most people with older hardware has at least a good advantage like 100+ fps. You can even run Valorant at 100-120 fps on low at 1080p on a FX 8350 with GTX 580.

For some reason they even put frame regeneration on by default so players who just install and play would be at a huge disadvantage.

Frame regeneration tech should stay on single players not PVP where each frame matters.

I have to really buy something like an RX 7800 to get 120+ fps. I really don't want to build a computer around for one game so I would just stick with 45-60 fps for now. lol

I'm usually on Arch Linux distro with a Ryzen 7 3800x with RX 640. This setup is slightly lower than Steam Deck. Only thing I do like about this game is Linux support it can easily run it.

Hawkeye is a projectile hero, so his aim method relies more on prediction and anticipation, so a higher ping a bit more forgiving for him. I'm trying to play Widow, which is hitscan and that's more precision and fast-tracking dependent and benefits more from lower ping and low latency.

That's not a bad setup at all. It's just that UE5 is extremely demanding. Instead of using a better engine for competitive games or properly optimizing the game they just throw the frame gen option in there instead of addressing the actual problem.
Im glad, I hope it remains unplayable for snipers lol

What's a "high end" pc to you?
