Don't bother with this game
I replayed the game after the initial play, and I have to say, even with the help of community patches, the games is barely playable.

The development team did pretty much everything to NOT let players enjoy this game properly:

- Still buggy (e.g. games crash from time to time, from all sorts of reasons)

- Quick save is...F12, and you cannot change it without a hack

- What is Quick load? Serious? After so many official expansions and patches...

- Camera is really weird (I eventually decided to use A and D to turn the camera, but it still feels clunky and sometimes didn't work)

- Team control is really tiresome (it seems that the dev team tried to mimic BG, but hell I don't even want to say how bad it was done). The team made so much effort, to push out 3 views, and neither is really enjoyable.

- NPC are forced to join players. God this is one of the worst things. I wish I could play solo.

I did try very hard to enjoy this game, but I dropped it before Highcliff. I'm a veteran of DND cRPGs but this really breaks my heart that the game has the potential but was so unpolished. The rendering engine is better, the scripting system is more powerful, but...whatever.

I do hope there is a remastered version though, maybe just fix all those bugs would be a huge improvement.

Its best to play this game on persistant worlds, not the single player game aspect.

Sounds like a skill issue.
NWN2 is the best D&D cRPG imho, thanks to both it's OC and SoZ.
OC has most memorable companion characters and a decent storyline. SoZ feels like a wack D&D adventure with plenty of love to OC.

Well that's programming skills, not gameplay skills then. Let's be honest, NWN1 is a lot better regarding some of the issues above.

Can confirm. It's all about the RP servers.

Op makes all valid observations but seems to be missing the point of the Neverwinter titles. I've never tried persistent worlds but the two games give near infinite quality single player content from the community.

The first game is more comfortable to play (and has more custom modules) but Nwm2 has much better pre-built campaigns, much better graphics and full party control. Both games are worth buying in my opinion despite a few shortcomings in both titles.

Probably my favourite games for custom content after Doom.

I've played since the release and the problems you list, at least to me are the least of it's a issues. But of course I still enjoy it and have played many single player mods over the years. Most people use the exploration cam option. I prefer playing close up so I control my character with WASD and the camera with my mouse. Also, its incredibly resource heavy. Even after all these years, the computer I have now is probably five or six time more powerful than what I had when it cam out and even now I will occasionally have issues getting a good frame rate in certain games. It's ganky and buggy and does some incredibly weird ♥♥♥♥ at times but I still love it.
