Summoner 2 was a unique experience, quite different from the first. I think the gamecube version had more content. I still have my ps2 copy, still a fun game to run through.

I disagree. Summoner 2 fundamentally changed the dynamic. You don't "summon" anything, you BECOME the monster. Both awesome games, don't get me wrong, but I always preferred the first one.

I never had the chance to play the sequal. I really enjoyed the first game though many moons ago.

The gamecube rocked. Sold my summoner 2 disk for $45 and would love to get the digital version. Maybe if we make the forum more about the sequel than this game someone will notice.

Summoner 2 wasn't made with PC port in mind at all(Unlike Summoner, which was developed with a PC fallback in case it didn't sell well as a launch title for the PS2).

In their eyes it was much more profitable to just work on the sequal for consoles and not put money towards a PC port.

I gotta disagree too, I much preferred Summoner over Summoner 2. Although Summoner 2 looked better, Summoner had a way better story, a much higher difficulty, and you actually summoned. Both are amazing though...I haven't played these in years.

Both are great games, but I enjoyed Summoner 2 much more, and I actually really enjoyed becoming the monster.

Funny thing is that I picked up Sudeki the other day.
Fond memories I had of that game.
Unfortunately It is rather err,old now and Is not really that good lol.

Is there a difference between Summoner 2 (PS2) and Summoner: A Goddess Reborn (GC)?

I don't think either of them got PC versions, so emulation would be the only option. How exactly does emulation work when it comes to selling games? Would they have to still pay a license fee to the old console manufacturer? I know SEGA sells their emulated classic games, but they also produced the console they're emulated from. There has to be a precedent of this somewhere.

To be fair, Sudeki wasn't very good when it came out either. It had a lot of charm and a great looking world, though. That's why I ended up playing through it back in the day, too. (Also, the hilariously bad voice acting like when everyone meets their doppelganger)

Summoner 2 was one of the best American RPGs of the PS2 era

They're both good games in their own right. I would love to see Summoner 2 though. I played that tons and have been wanting to play it again.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I *think* the only difference between the two versions was that the Gamecube version looked a little better. The only reason they called it "Summoner: A Goddess Reborn" instead of "Summoner 2" was because they were worried it wouldn't sell as well due to people assuming you might need to play Summoner 1 (which wasn't availble on the GC) to enjoy Summoner 2.

I think the main girl had a different model but the game had framerate issues.

I loved all the references from summoner 1 the sequel had. Overall I enjoyed the game a lot and I found it to be a worthy sequel. I emailed volition around 2 years ago when I was replaying the games asking them if theres any plans for a summoner 3. I was surprised they actually responded to me but sadly there is no future for summoner 3 and now that nordic has the license I have no hope for the series.
