Stuck and cannot progress

I'm a bit stuck, hoping someone can help. I'm at the part of the story where you are supposed to go to the big tree. I think it's called like the tevi tree or something like that? it's the pathway to take to the next part of the mission. I just recently fought the evil guys ex-girlfriend, or whatever she is if that helps figure out where I am in the story.

The entry to the area it tells me to go is blocked by red thorn vines in mid-air that I cannot get past. Honestly I think there's supposed to be an ability that I'm missing, the one that breaks blue blocks. I have the red, yellow, and green ones but not the blue one. I presume that ability is some time of lateral charge, and would let me get past those thorns as well as break the blue blocks.

But I cannot for the life of me find where that ability is from... I've run back and forth through this map about three times trying to find it and I can't figure out any way to progress.

Anybody clue me in to where that ability should be found? Or am I missing something obvious?

Wow, thank you for the help! Love the game, by the way. I have Guacamelee 2 lined up as well :D
