I understand an account is required and that linking accounts is also supported but will i be required to install Ubisoft Connect?
If it is required then i don't really see the difference from just buying the game through Ubisoft or Epic in the first place.
I held off because of not wanting another launcher and now it's not gonna make a
difference anyway?

The first time you launch the game, it installs Ubisoft Connect. When the game runs, there is an option on the main menu to display the Ubisoft Connect overlay (which runs at the same time as the Steam overlay).

I can tolerate the denuvo, but I will not tolerate requiring a third party store and having to make another account there for a company I avoid for doing retarded ♥♥♥♥ like this in the first place.

I've been bitten in the ass by this 'linking' ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ before. It's horrible at best.
If you want to buy the game, go get it from the ubi store directly and skip all the BS.

Hell, you could go grab a switch copy and not have to deal with EITHER. (And piracy for that is insanely easy). Which would leave you without denuvo, without need for a ubi account, and no third party store linking.

I got sick of having to install and update multiple launchers to play a game. So I stopped.

It's not our fault they are pushing to digital only games, this would not be a problem if

But greedy developers wanted to cut out the middle man (game stores). And Steam saw a gap in the market and capitalised.

Now they are salty and are trying to play catch-up at our expense.

Only reason I still have epic is because of the free games but I will never buy a game on a different launcher.

The idea that you need 2 launchers to play one game is beyond stupid. That means before you can play your game you spent money on, you have to wait for BOTH launcher to install and be updated.

Then you have to update the game. Lol

Imagine if there is an IT issue that causes one of the launchers to go off line, so you have doubled your chances of losing access to your game due to an IT failure.

Absolutely crazy.
