While I am not a big fan of Holotech's subscription model for Animaze, it's kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attacking the company for ensuring we can still use Facerig, which is now what? A 5-6 year old product?
Seriously some of you people would still have us using Windows 95 if you could. Stop saying ♥♥♥♥ based on nothing but your feelz and emotions and maybe take some deep breathes and use those brains of yours to think and use some common sense before you post.
Honestly amazed Holotech hasn't just said 'well ♥♥♥♥ you guys' and just pulled the plug already, they'd be fully entitled too because regardless of what they do a small bunch of overly vocal Facerig users attack them, and quite often with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arguments when their is plenty of legit things they could be criticised for, in regards to Animaze, which should be saved for the Animaze forums.
C'mon kids, get some perspective here.
"I just bought FaceRig and not used it yet waaaaah"
You ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ have had around 5 years now to buy and use it. It's a you problem.
It's like buying Doom Eternal then crying it went on sale the next day. And hell that complaint would even be more legit than "I'm crying because 5-6 year old software still works and devs are moving onto a new project....."
If you've not 'used FaceRig yet", what the hell is stopping you now aside from yourself?
Program still works.
Imagine being so dumb that you think that everyone on the internet knows about every program when it launches.
According to many reviews on Steam, lots of people just recently found Facerig in the last year or two. Hardly anyone on my Steam list even knows about it. It's a very niche app with specific uses, not an Elder Scrolls game that everyone and their grandma knows about.
last year or two. So not like just yesterday. Imagine being so dumb that you cannot see a products release date on the store page and go "oh, this game/software came out several years ago. There's a good chance it might not be supported anymore, or could end up EOL"
Are you dumb enough that you buy a game like say Deus Ex Human Revolution from 2011, and then lose your ♥♥♥♥ when you find out the developers are not longer updating it and have decided to make a sequel a few years later?
Are you dumb enough to be surprised to find Adobe no longer makes, or supports their version of photoshop that came out in 2015 and have instead released a new version since then, actually several version?
Again 2015, if people are too stupid to say "oh gee, this software is now 3-5 years old it might not be updated or supported anymore. I should really think about buying it because well it could have support dropped at any moment" then that is a them problem.
Anyway, feel free to continue to be a whiny self entitled brat because no doubt you're dumb enough to not have your mind changed by anything anyone else has to say because the desire of modern people to be outraged over every little nonsensical thing is strong.
♥♥♥♥ Bethesda. Doom 2016 was less than 4 years old when they released Doom Eternal. How dare they no longer support and update Doom 2016. How ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dare they make a new product and stop supporting the old one.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Seriously I know it may be hard but just try and use those 2 braincells of yours for a couple of second and realise just how dumb your argument is.
Oh well, squeaky wheels are gonna squeak.
Now excuse me, I'm gonna go lose my ♥♥♥♥ at Nissan for making other cars instead of just focusing on my several years old Tiida that cost me like $20000. I mean how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dare they? Pricks won't even work on my car and give me parts for free anymore
HOW ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DARE THEY!!!
I mean if people are dumb enough and justified in losing their ♥♥♥♥ over a $15 piece of software then I most definitely deserve to be pissed at a company I paid $20000 surely?
Feel stupid. Because you should.
Edit: Actually imagine being so dumb you pay $15-$80 for a program then not using it for the year or two you own it for. Quite obviously it was an essential app for such people. So essential they didn't touch FaceRig until holotech decided to drop support for the program a couple of years later. lol
Yeahhhhh there's a whole lot I'm not gonna say in response to that, cuz clearly you get off on self-triggering and hopping into epileptic rages....
A big part of your argument is instantly dismissed, however, once you remember that, oh Doom is -get this now- still being supported. So many years later. With no cosmetics to pay for, or extra DLC to buy, anything to still keep the cash coming in.
Even though there's a sequel.
Even though there will most likely be a third installment, and hopefully more to come.
I just played Doom online the other night, and there were players to lobby up with without waiting, all because the game is still good, there aren't many bugs left, cheaters aren't an issue, and it's fun to play.
You know what else? Games from 1998 are still supported.
Games from 2003 are still supported, in that they still function, even without updates. That last point is important - because it's not so much that I'm annoyed about no longer getting updates in the future - though I slightly am. I'm surprised there still isn't a glasses fix, and that so many models are so janky, and that animation could def be far better and smoother. It's more about the fact that the games don't -need- updates, and they still continue to function, all these years later, just the same.
Hell, I have a game that isn't even listed on Steam anymore, and I can still play it, and no it doesn't get updates - nor do I expect it to. It's that the game still functions.
From the looks of it, Facerig will soon stop functioning because the damn webcam driver will just fail.
I truly do not understand it, it's pushing your customers directly into the arms of your competitors.
I've also never heard of a company not being able to update or sell their product just because it was made on someone else's engine, or code, and that that code/engine somehow has a licensing expiry with the studio. I'd love to hear more cases of it, but I haven't found any yet.
Software functioning vs being actively supported (having someone make changes to the software) are *different* things.
Buying a software suite several years ago does not also buy me a personal coder "slave" to code on the software forever.
Doom works. Windows Vista works. Facerig works.
These are the facts.
That Facerig might randomly stop working is your hypothesis.
I'm not saying it can't eventually happen, I'm just saying that for now a lot of your case is based on speculation of what *might* happen. Or maybe just like just like Windows Vista will still work many years from now if installed on the proper machine.
The driver is an interface. The functionality of an interface depends on how external things evolve too and might need updates. For now it still gets updates, but even when it won't, it is still fine, because you can use another interface (OBS capture).
If you were just worried about functionality then you would be chill knowing that OBS will probably be there to use instead of the old driver. The idea that the driver expiring will make Facerig obsolete is false.
But it seems what you want is to cause drama about what might be. I suppose that is fine every village has their doomsayers.
What HAS happened so far though, isn't actually supporting your worldview.
Not sure what you mean about the worldview bit there, BUT you did just expand mine! I didn't know that I could use OBS with this and still get chroma facerig avatars to work, even after the facerig driver does inevitably fail. That changes my attitude quite a bit, if that ends up being the case. And I won't download the Avatar drivers, so that wouldn't be a fix for me. But this is great news to me
And all of this is on the supposition that Facerig will still work, function as-it-currently-is, as of their current state/version number as of 1/1/2021, without forcing updates from wherever we may happen to be at, unto 2022 and beyond.
Supposing also that Windows does not also just hecc it up, ha
Cuz we can still let people enjoy and experience Facerig, friends and people we know.
From the looks of it editing 2D models isn't too difficult, and doesn't require fancy expensive software to edit. And then they can be shared on the workshop for free!
I feel there are still lots of benefits to Facerig, tho it's a bummer they can't fix some of the issues that they fixed in Animaze
Now I don't know about anyone else, but I myself am broke currently and can barely pay rent, and I happen to have something I already paid for when I wasn't broke. That's the beauty of perpetual license. I can still stream with it even when the money stops flowing, which is why I had gone for the Pro version when I bought it. Now I can't speak for many others, but as far as I know, on the whole, most full time streamers don't have much of an income. Are we going to make this be a total pay-to-be-a-streamer landscape where only people with money can stream? Also I don't know if you noticed, but a global pandemic made it really hard to make money. You might have missed that. But I wouldn't blame you if you did, it's not that big a deal, is it now?
Holotech, it's fine if you stop *supporting* the app after this year, but by god please don't make it stop working altogether.
Adobe has Creative Cloud products sure, but I'm still using the older software because I don't want to pay a subscription, and it still works okay. May not have all the new features, but it does the job I need it to.
I thought we were done with alternative facts
1. I would NEVER claim that Vista has worked, or ever will work.
2. None of these are my words, you did not quote me. I certainly never said Facerig will always work either, do a reread of the comments
