Install Error - WebM Project Directshow Filters + Launch Failure
During my first install, I encountered an error with the WebM Project Directshow Filters install. I tried twice with it erroring on a particular DLL, but it gave me the option to ignore the error, so on the third attempt, I hit ignore. It gave a second error, I ignored that one, and the install completed.

After the install was complete, I tried to launch Facerig. Steam pops up for a split second, goes away, and does nothing. I tried a few times and again, nothing happens.

I uninstalled FaceRig and downloaded it again. I went through the accessories-installation steps and it tried to install WebM again. This time it appeared to not give any errors. After this completed, I tried to launch it again, and still had nothing happen. At this point I'm going to attempt a reboot (perhaps there's a Steam update factoring into this as well) but I wanted to report my error before I did.

Windows XP, all updates.

From the store page:

System Requirements
Minimum:
OS: Windows® 7 or later

aka, it is not meant to run on Windows XP.
If it somehow does, good for you, if it doesn't, we can't help you, also because Microsoft themselves have ceased to support / update windows XP.

At the time of my purchase I recall XP being listed. But this is... very unfortunate news... I loathe Win7.

Anyway. Overlay fix and reboot, yields no success. Still simply flickers when attempting to launch.

Could you try uploading your VP.log, found at
<steam folder>\steamapps\common\FaceRig\VP.log
to pastebin and posting the link here.

Navigated there, no such file. Perhaps it's just not able to install one of those First Time Setup items. I was able to get it to work on my laptop so I guess I'll have to hope Windows XP compatibility, even basic, is eventually added. Thanks though.

While I was there, I manually launched the .exe and it gave me an error: Missing d3d11.dll, which I'm pretty sure is DirectX11, unavailable on WinXP. Bah. :P

To check what exactly didn't install, look at "<steam folder>\logs\installscript_log.txt"
Everything with an "exit code" other then (0) didn't work properly.

Every launch generates this:
