Anyone had any success using a directinput controller/joystick?
I've tried the good old x360ce vibmod to disguise my G13 as a 360 controller, but no luck there for some reason. Kind of surprised that it's xinput only to be honest.

Would like to be able to control my speed while retaining the mouse precision. Best of both worlds.

Aren't Playstation DS3s directinput? That's the controller I use, and it seems to work just fine.. Maybe you need to install a driver or something? Try BetterDS3.

BetterDS3 can make a DS3 act as both a pure xinput, or pure directinput through its' drivers or something. But it's not a DS3 controller I'm trying to use, just a regular directinput joystick with no hardware-, or software-side switch to make it xinput.

Using Logitech F710 here in DirectInput mode under Debian Linux.
Perfect controller for Steam, seriously!

Are you able to map your controller buttons to keyboard inputs? I know that it isn't an ideal solution, but I honestly don't know how else to resolve your issue.

Yes but that defeats the purpose of using the joystick.

Been fiddling with all the hookmasks and whatnot with x360ce, but it's just not hooking. It's not a gamebreaking issue for me or anything, I'm just trying to improve my experience further and make use of the peripherals I got.

using a generic gamepad which shows up in windows as 2in1 joystick, the game doesn't seem to register it at all..
anyone know a fix for this?

Is it xinput or dinput? I've only had success using xinput. One quirk I noticed is Brigador doesn't pickup on controllers till you hit a face button on the pad. I spent a lot of time wiggling analog sticks thinking it wasn't working.

If you're really dedicated to getting it to work, Universal Control Remapper can let you remap any generic joystick to a virtual xbox pad, and it'll work that way.

Ehhhrrm, i think it's direct input, but idk really, i can calibrate them using the joystick menu that looks like it has since win95 if that tells you anything. I tried using my xbox360 controllers and windows didn't register them at all though. I'm not really all that worried to be honest, i don't care for the console gamepads to any degree, just wanted to see if using one gave me a new perspective on the gameplay as i find using the mouse can be very awkward aiming with some weapons.

The game only supports Xinput and KBM.

If you still want to use direct input hardware: Go into big picture mode -> settings (cog icon) -> enable "generic controller support" (steam calls direct input "generic input" for some reason).

start the game and it should see your controller as an xbox controller.
(This should also work for 3rd party xbox controllers -> enable "xbox support" in big picture setting).

Important:
Make sure to deactivate "generic support" if you don't want to use it with other direct input hardware (racingwheels , flightstsick,HOTAS) unless you want them to be detected as xbox controllers.
But that might also be interesting if you want to controll your Mech with a flightstick and shoot with the mouse^^.
