A question about the Loyalists' outfit
I have a question for the devs regarding the uniforms that the Loyalists are wearing in the portraits, what do they look like?
The reason for asking this question is because I'm thinking of maybe at some point do a cosplay as a Loyalist pilot, but I haven't got much to work with just from the portraits alone considering how they basically just shows the faces of the pilots and very little of their uniforms.
I'd appreciate a photo or something that shows an outfit that is the closest to a Loyalist's pilot outfit.

Good questions! To get a part of that old tech feeling, the cap is a Soviet tanker cap. You can find them on eBay for about 45-80 dollars USD, sizing can be kind of tricky. i couldn't find one in green, sadly, the ones we used while demoing the game at conventions were blue, so consider that canon, too :)
They tend to be pretty stinky/mildewy coming out of storage, fair warning. Stick them in a bag with some dessicants or attached to a small dehumidifier, and then once they're dry, go and put them in a bag in a freezer for a couple of days, that should make it smell a lot better. This same trick works with shoes, too, because it kills the odor causing bacteria.

To round out our demoing outfits we used generic olive drab coveralls/flight suits, so long as it fits and is in OD, you are good. Variety of suppliers and types.

For some gear we used surplus Swedish combat rigs and military flashlights. I can't recommend this site (keepshooting.com) enough for really cheep but useful, functional surplus. Unfortunately they no longer carry the combat rig, so I linked a site that still has a picture uploaded. The combat rig is great at cons because the great big pouches the whole thing fits into are very handy storage.

Other than that, a pair of Rothco Vietnam-era reproduction jungle boots: https://www.armynavyusa.com/Rothco-Mens-Olive-Drab-GI-Style-Jungle-Boots-p/rtc-5080.htm?1=1&CartID=0 (warning that these stink of petroleum as well, never found a good solution to that one but they are handy for a lot of different military themed cosplay.)

So with the tanker cap, flight suit and boots, you are definitely a canon Loyalist, the rest is absolutely up to you. We deliberately mixed up a bunch of different military equipment to give the tech and supply chains of this distant colony planet it's own indeterminate/mixed-up vibe, so see what you can find for combat rigs or other cool looking surplus and make it your own! Hope to see some pictures posted if you follow through on it. Good luck!

The one thing I'd add here is that if you look at Loyalist vehicles, Olive Drab is the main color but accents are also done in yellow, so if you want to add a little more color to the outfit that would be a good way to spice things up while still being distinctly Loyalist.

Good luck! And please send/post pictures once you've got something put together!

Now, these are GOOD devs.

What do Spacers wear? I'd love to see some concept art of your standard Spacer getup if it exists.

And while your at that, got anything on the Corvids too?

I think they'd just wear anything blue. Lore-wise - I might be taking a stab in the dark here - I'm pretty sure the faction's origin revolves around an appreciation for the color blue- also an overwhelming hatred for the oligarchs of their homeworld.

This is correct hahahahaha. Gauss will have a proper answer for you soon though.

Corvids are the easiest one, almost anything goes. The basics would be a blue or navy coverall/flightsuit, military gear, and some kind of headgear of really any kind, so long as something is painted blue-green. Channel your Mad Max / Orks from WH40K, really anything that's ad hoc will work. As far as more off the shelf, the most common headgear is probably any kind of motorcycle helmet. A lot of their gear is the same as Loyalists, just looser and not standardized for gear or uniform.

This guy did a great job with his Corvid cosplay: https://twitter.com/kissesfingers/status/843612653851475968

Spacers are the least well defined, but there's an opportunity there I suppose. The headgear as depicted is meant to be kind of glossy/gel sort of thing, and the big blue chestpieces seen in most of the pilot portraits are the same. Not going to be easy to represent. Beyond that, very sleek, futuristic is the key; probably some kind of wetsuit or catsuit would be appropriate to wear. I didn't base the headgear on anything existing, so I honestly don't know where you'd start for representing it with an off the shelf item this side of some very clever custom building. Tricky! We welcome all creative interpretations, of course :)

I note that Arja Soug is the only Spacer not wearing the blue oversuit; is that supposed to signify something about her?

I tried to vary up some of the details in the pilots' personal appearance because it's another way to make them more unique, personalized. In Arja's case, the lack of the oversuit you might make an inference about her daredevil ways. She's an Arlo pilot. Maybe like Kroenig in the book, driving his not-a-mog without being strapped in, maybe Arja likes to pilot without the restriction (but also without the safety) of the oversuit?

Maybe she's exposed to planetary combat frequently enough not to require the suit's anti-G functions? Or maybe it's a temperature regulator first and foremost for weak Spacer constitutions, and she's eccentric enough that she wants to be exposed to her machine's temperaments as much as possible.

Considering the whole 'cocooned in a tank of interface fluid' thing, it's probably a wonder the Spacers wear anything at all.

Running around naked is a canonical Spacer outfit.

Last Halloween I cosplayed as a Loyalist pilot. I used a Russian Special Forces hat from what seems to be from the Afgan war, a German tank pilot jump suit from the 80's and some U.S. military boots. I hope this helps :)
