Save Files (Where are they stored?)
Hey guys. I'm trying to find the location of the save files for this game. Does anyone have a file-path? Additionally, I'm doing this to try and poke the save files and see if I can do a little cheating. That's why I need them.

I know, I know, but after starting over dozens of times after getting this game the week it came out, I just want to cruise around and have some easy going fun with it for a change.Feel free to donate a save file ;)

If you are on Windows 7 or later they are in that hidden AppData folder in your user folder:
\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\DroxOperative\User

I could give you a save file... but then you'd know all my secrets! Seriously though, if you want one, I could toss you one of my level 100 ships, they're pretty easy as long as you play below about level 110 or so areas.

Did you try just lowering the new region's level 5 or 10 levels to make it easier? I did that a bunch in the beginning while trying to figure out how to play the game.

In my opinion, the two biggest things to make the game easier are to use energy leechers to cancel out your weapon's energy cost (light item, need 30 engineering minimum). The other is to make use of the chip mechanic's ability to increase an item's quality. It makes OP items very quickly. It only works on some items, most useful on shields, drives, and computers.

Basically an item's quality will increase once it has so many bonuses. I don't know the specifics, but I start with a yellow item, preferably with a slot. Get the utopians to add chip slots until it gets to orange quality. Then dump in the lowest level chips you can find, it doesn't matter what. If the item's quality increases again, it's main stats will almost double. So if you get it to increase 2 levels to the blue quality you've basically increased the item's stats 4x.

I would love a save-file or two. I put probably 800 hours into this game before I got it on Steam. I'm mostly just looking for a mess-around ship for high levels without having to sink an ungodly amount of time back in. I appreciate the help, too. These save files are set up weird.

Last time I tried linking Media Fire it got deleted on these forums, let's see if this works.

It's only the CHR file that you need, right?
