Honestly, I did not know what to expect going into this one. I half expected it to secretly be a psychological horror title. Turns out its a genuinely wholesome Point & Click adventure with themes of good deeds, love, friendship, prejudice, sadness, loss, and coming of age. The game has no dialogue or text yet it does a excellent job conveying it's objectives, story and message. At first i was put off by the goofy and slightly damp clown but, overtime, he quickly grew on me as a proper protagonist. Visually it's got nice colors & pixel art. It offers a surprisingly good soundtrack too. I walked away from this game feeling good. If you are looking for a short and cozy game to play, this one may be for you.

dropsy is so kind

This is a lovely title that makes me feel like I'm dropped into a sickening yet sweet Otto Dix painting. It's a beautiful and lovely sounding game, and i received it with a massive discount. For half the game I played blind, but finished it up with a walkthrough, because I have to catch an airplane tomorrow! I think the game might have felt a bit of a slog if I hadn't cheated.

Aspects of the game feel hard to read, sometimes I felt like I wasn't sure what I just saw, or there would be small interacts that are extremely difficult to see on first read. Sometimes the solutions to puzzles feels quite odd, but there are plenty of really well designed puzzles. There is a lot of backtracking, that is made less frustrating later on. The mechanic of solving people's problems, and hugging them, is a nice refreshing change of pace for a adventure game as it allows you to make progress and discoveries while stuck on mainline tasks. I think that this genre of game comes with a lot of challenges and Dropsy did a decent job of getting through that.

The mood of the game and funny scenarios are what I liked the most. The visuals and dark humor worked for me. The use of the animals was great when it worked, but some encounters were frustrating and hard to control/read out. Interacting with the UI would sometimes work in ways I didn't intend it to, such as navigating on the map -- I would often accidentally click the back button or the wrong map item when i was scrolling the screen. Overall I think this game lacks a bit of polish, that could set it over the top for me.

I'd rate this game a 7/10. Closer to an 8, than a 6. I think that this would not be a good game for someone to get into point and click adventures, but once someone understands the language of those games, this is a lovely deconstruction of those mechanics and experiences into something really unique and simple. Great game!
