An Endless Mode that's just normal Monster Train, but thirty fights instead of eight/nine just sounds painfully slow. It's a roguelike. Start a run, win or lose, onto the next one.
Maybe it's just poor branding. The developers explicitly said that Endless isn't supposed to literally be a never-ending run - they want Endless to kill you, and pretty quickly. Calling it Endless seems to give people a different impression.
The real fun-killer is the forced-upon modifiers - sometimes it's as easy as "remove two cards from your already lean deck", and sometimes the choice is between "the units are too expensive to deploy" and "every morsel you summon kills the rest".
Had an incredible run going with Underlegion. Rallied my champion to deal over 700 damage per hit, had 4 free Spawning Pods cards with intrinsic, so just constant free scaling. Sounds like an easy clap for the achievement, right?
♥♥♥♥ no.
2nd round of Endless spawned Barrier units with 30 Thornskin (what the ♥♥♥♥), 200+ armor, and 600+ HP (seriously, what the ♥♥♥♥)
Sorry I don't have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MOAB installed on each floor to open the sun in their faces, I guess. (This is a rant more than anything. I managed to get the achievement through a good few resets and getting lucky that I could kill the boss before a unit was about to one-shot my Pyre, but it didn't feel fun to do at all. Endless just ain't for me this time around.)
i had an extremely powerful run with unchained fel where i legit didnt even break a sweat the entire game. so i was like hell yeah lets go endless! only to get my ass thoroughly pounded on round 2.
never wanna play that trash mode again. i never even stood a chance
Round 3 is a lot more manageable than that (it is a boss fight against Arkion, and flying bosses are usually easier. Even at 6000 health).
(the worst part, of course, are the absurd modifiers)
