i believe the trailer or one of the screenshots shows an alternate champion for the dragons
yes, they've got two champions per faction

I tried looking through the screenshots and trailer for some confirmation, but I couldn’t find anything. Hopefully I’m just missing something obvious and y’all are right. I saw a dragon in the last screenshot that could be an alternate champion, but could also just be another unit.

I would love to see second champions confirmed, of course; having two different takes on the clan and a second starting card choice with secondary clans was really cool. I know they were added post launch in the last game though, so I would potentially expect the same in this game if they aren’t present at launch.

Any actual confirmation or just people guessing with no source

I don't know if there is any confirmation, but the first Monster Train had 2 champions per faction. I feel like its safe to assume there's 2 champions per faction in this game too.

Since I made my last comment, the FAQ got posted. And it says:

Not hard confirmation of multiple champions for each clan, but a strong implication.

It’s not safe to assume anything. This isn’t monster train. This is monster train 2.

Prior to now it would have been safe to assume all the factions from the first game would return if there was a sequel. They did not. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. I think it’s refreshing to be honest. However, the assumption was wrong.

Seem right, based on Monster Train and the comment right above yours. Infact, I'm positive that there are 2 champions per clan now. Or at the very least, at least two. I won't hold my breath for more than two, but there are undoubtedly more than 1 for certain at this point.

i don't think you understand what the word certain means

my theory is the dragon in the last screen shot is lady gilda a character mentioned in a pyreborne equipment lore and seems to be a thing with lord fenix. her tail accessory matches the accessory on fenix's horn. she also seems to be obsessed with gold in the little bit of lore i read about her as fenix provides it for her and that dragon is hoarding quite a bit of gold. fenix also lacks any gold consuming paths while there's cards in pyreborne that use this gimmick so there's room for her to fill that niche.

talos is also shown in the trailer looking like an actual unit and unless she's the champion of the lazarus league i could see her being the alternate for banished. fel also lacks any equipment related paths while there's units like swordmaiden that focus on this so talos could fit that niche too.

Do you mean the fat dragon sitting on a pile of gold? It definitly looks as if it could be a champion. But it also has the standart "firestarter" spell card and if I remember rigth in 1 different champion meant different starter cards.

Didn't the first game had 3 champions per clan? So i'm assuming they'd follow the same route

You're going to feel positively silly when the game launches with 2 or more champions per clan.

In MT1 it's 2 champions per clan, though it originally launched with 1 per clan.

Why would this be safe to assume? Tons of games dont bring every faction back. I would say its not normal to bring ANY of them back but they would probably have to rework the entire faction to balance them and at that point might as well make a new one.
