Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

Statistieken weergeven:
digital comic is a pile of trash (spoilers)
1. none of the dates match up or make any sense. beard is alive in 1987 in the digital comic but was nuked in san fran in 86, for example.

2. general nonsense, like corey having a katana. katanas are the silliest thing ever and only make sense for the stupidly rich weirdos to have, like the son who already has a shark tank anyway. corey is barely into this whole violence kick and her special move is appropriately entirely evasive. a katana implies a love of over the top silly childishness that's just not possessed by corey.

3. bad artwork. these proportions are just.. bones dont work this way. it botches or altogether ignores the very very good aesthetic the games offer in the name of just blandness.

4. garbage narrative told generically. rather than the memorable surrealistic haze of the games the story is told through sober adolescent rants that are frankly cringe inducing.

this thing is the most shoddy product with the HM logo on it by a mile, and everyone involved in it should be ashamed, including to some extent the devs that commissioned the thing.

Yeah, the comic's balls. After HM1 you'd expect psychedelic narrative about usual tropes in videogames gone wrong and whatnot, not just...backgrounds on characters. I think OP pointed out the main issue beautifully, calling the writing in comic "fanfic-level". It's like Dennation Games just paid the guys behind the thing, gave them the script and told "make something to hype up the fans" and went back to complete the game.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this thread.

...I enjoyed it.
Can we sticky this thread
As an artist myself, I can assure you an art style is more appealing to the masses.
It dosent need to be extremely real.

I agree on the dates tho.

Katanas have nothing to do with anime, get your head outta your ass. They take a huge amount of time and effort to make, they're a work of art, and are a fine type of sword. Beard also got "nuked" before the whole nuke thing, so something strange is going on in the actual game story, the comic did indeed match up with it. I honestly liked the comics, they helped add some background to some characters that didn't get fleshed out too much in the game. And the comics are free, so what the hell?

didnt say it did, m9

jesus christ its like i tore up your hustler mags or something

Beard also got "nuked" before the whole nuke thing
yeah, in 1986, not 1987.

, so something strange is going on in the actual game story
no, he just got nuked in 1986, not 1987

, the comic did indeed match up with it.
no, because he was nuked in 1986, not 1987.

I honestly liked the comics, they helped add some background to some characters that didn't get fleshed out too much in the game. And the comics are free, so what the hell?
it detracts from the franchise with its sheer garbageness.

You've been agressive the whole time, from the original post, to now (now more so). Why should I bother trying to come up with an actual reply?
but you did reply, and you replied astoundingly vapidly. telling someone "lol, f**k off" isnt even quasi-anything-other-than-a-preteen comment.

Kid, you're the definition of the angsty, "edgy" teenager who thinks he's special. "Oh look at me, I stand out! People like katanas and I HAVE to make that arbitrary reference to how the mass likes pop music! Look at me guys! I'm a special snowflake! LOOK AT ME! I HIDE MY INSECURITIES BY ARTIFICIALLY STIMULATING UNIQUENESS!" Kid, people like different things. So what if they like different music than you? I don't like pop more than you do but you don't see me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it. There are several other billion people sharing this planet, so stop stroking your ego by asserting your tastes like it's the one truth. Your random mini-rant also screams insecure, not to mention annoying. Like, Christ mate. Lay it off. People like anime. People have "waifus". It's a joke and a part of their culture. I also love how you use overly complex words that is nowhere found in everyday vocabulary unless you're an edgy, pretentious, teenager who thinks he's the best.

Do the world and yourself a favor and stop humiliating yourself. Grow up kid. Please.

well bashing people for liking katanas all over the place is just kinda a human noticing some people are really strange.

and the pop music thing was really just a more rhetorically natural and topical way of saying he was ad populum fallacying hard.

Look at me guys! I'm a special snowflake! LOOK AT ME! I HIDE MY INSECURITIES BY ARTIFICIALLY STIMULATING UNIQUENESS!"
im not demonstrating uniqueness i'm just telling some people that they're trash when they post incredibly trashy things. i'm actually arguing that the comic should be less distinct from the game here. i'm a conservative on this issue as far as i'm concerned.

Kid, people like different things. So what if they like different music than you? I don't like pop more than you do but you don't see me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it.
i'm sorry i bashed popular music, i love justin beiber, he's an inspiration to me and the light of my life, but what the hell was i supposed to say? "ad populum fallacy?" i was getting berated for wordy rhetoric as-was. give me some slack.

There are several other billion people sharing this planet, so stop stroking your ego by asserting your tastes like it's the one truth.
i really dont think many people prefer the comic to the game.

Your random mini-rant also screams insecure, not to mention annoying. Like, Christ mate. Lay it off. People like anime. People have "waifus". It's a joke and a part of their culture.
their very, *very* creepy culture, yes. and if its i joke i really dont see the issue laughing at it.

I also love how you use overly complex words that is nowhere found in everyday vocabulary unless you're an edgy, pretentious, teenager who thinks he's the best.
oh god, you're one of them too? why didnt you appreciate my pop music bashing? that was extremely adolescent of me and completely unindicative of wordsiness.

Do the world and yourself a favor and stop humiliating yourself. Grow up kid. Please.
honestly im having a hard time feeling embarrassed in this world of katana ranters and aimless harsh and smug condescention. i responded to all replies and called the dumb ones dumb and calmly disagreed with the ones i disagreed with. i dont know what you want from me.

Ugh. I don't know what I expected.

Sorry kid, but you're too edgy for me. I don't want to get cut. Have fun living in your world.

well i'm sorry if dicing up your post and brutally assaulting it by responding to everything you said as though i legitimately wanted to talk to you about what you posted felt too smug. i just wanted a conversation but you're very into this whole calling me an idiot and pretending to be above this all.

Sorry kid, but you're too edgy for me. I don't want to get cut. Have fun living in your world.
oh god, what did i do? i live my life in collared shirts and listen only to pop music, alright? i mute HM2 and play nickelback over it. i have shelves of corey porn, all featuring katanas. please don't go. i need your smugness. i need your sense of completely done with it all that trumps the whole politeness thing every bit as much as i. i need your pretension to being better than people without need of giving reasons for this.

pls pardo, dont go. my skin is thick and plentiful.

while the comic wasn't perfect or cohesive or even had the correct dates keep in mind it gave some backstory on characters in the game if only a little and i got to see jacket say something for the first time ever (even tho it was just a speech bubble but still) plus it was free and it helped keep me entertained until the game came out so i think of the comic as one of those things where it had glaring plot holes due to its dates but everyone dies at the end anyway and the comic entertained me so i just didn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about its continuity my two cents on the topic.

well i wont deny that it was like an outlet for hype or whatever, and i read absolutely every single bad page of it in anticipation for this game, but i know some people who gave up a few pages in because it 'wasnt hotline' and was basically a heartless promo. and i dont blame them. characters are introduced more naturally in the game and i dont think we needed an explanation that jacket was arrested (we didnt need one when ritcher was arrested, we know these people kill people).

The thing about comics and games is that they are entertainment and my view on entertainment is this if it keeps me from being bored and entertains me in any way i consider it a success in its goal if other people dont enjoy it that sucks for them but whatever the comic being good or bad is a subjective opinion and like the saying goes opinions are like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everybody has one my opinion is that the comic was not a failure because it entertained me until the game came out and i especially enjoyed the martin browns comic it really did make it hard to tell if what he was doing was real killing or just a movie it was pretty interesting in my opinion.

well the thing is that the comic is so jarringly not very good at all at entertaining and only ever did so in lieu of HM2, which is like godly entertainment.

in its goal if other people dont enjoy it that sucks for them but whatever the comic being good or bad is a subjective opinion and like the saying goes opinions are like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everybody has one my opinion is that the comic was not a failure because it entertained me until the game came out
well the comic won't last tho. no one's going back to it ever, ever. it was made as digital landfill that serves one use and immediately rots. this would be fine if the game wasn't so ironclad amazing and lasting as hm2.

and i especially enjoyed the martin browns comic it really did make it hard to tell if what he was doing was real killing or just a movie it was pretty interesting in my opinion.
well the game has all of that with less wordy inner monologue about how intense and not boring he is. just better storytelling for the same ideas really.
