"Release" Level is too hard
The prison level, last one of the son's missions called Release (if I'm not mistaken).

Too difficult.

I've made it to the room with the Thug type and Charging dudes without shirts (?) in the prison dressed as the security guard.

I tried for 2 hours and couldn't get past it.

I'll reserve my in-depth opinion about the game, but overall I'm not happy, so I was wondering, would there be a mod to remove thug/charging type enemies from that level, or even remove certain enemies from the game in general. (If it is the latter I would not want them removed entirely, only at my command, from the start menu or pause menu)

I can't progress and see the rest of the game because of this level.

Also, ♥♥♥♥ the beginning to that level, I would want that nerfed or gone too.

For those who would argue that it wouldnt be fair if I had modded the game because of leaderboards, keep the fact that I am REMOVING enemies, therefore reducing my overall score on the level, which I personally think its a fair trade.

Please, if anyone could help, it would be much appreciated. I want to see the rest of the game.

One last bit, whens the level editor supposed to come out? I thought it was the 16th?

EDIT: This discussion is no longer relevant to anything, I made it past.

The chargers are basically reskinned dogs that you can't kill with guns. Just punch them in the face with a nightstick when they are charging you or throw stuff at them and finish them off when they are down on the ground. They are annoying at first, but once you get the timing right they are very easy to deal with. Just avoid doors, just like dogs they like to glitch out on them and just teleport on top of you instantly.

Level editor will come Soon™

Just throw them a weapon while they are charging.
And about the boss level, it is not that hard. Run in circles in the middle of the field, when he charges run, then take the bat and kill him.
That final floor is tricky, you gotta use the magnums from the other guys.
I'm aware of how to deal with the enemies (not that I don't appreciate the feedback, its nice to see some actual help rather than "git gud") , its just that frankly my patience with the game has worn thin (especially that level), and because I want to see the rest of the game I want an easy way out, seeing as how I can't get a refund because Valve likes to ♥♥♥♥ over its customers and Gabe Newell likes to roll in a big pit of money before he goes to bed

Then it looks like you're not finishing the game.

I just finished that level and I'm not that good. Man, I have had to stop playing HLM1 becaue I really hated it after a while. Eventually I started playing again (over a year) and now I love HLM1 (because I finally did it). I would regret a refund. Also refund because a game is too hard? Sounds a bit odd to me, if you ask me.

Im pretty bad in those games (C-D ranks) and just finished it . How? play until you come to a point were you keep loosing. Then quit. do something else and come back tomorrow. Thats how I ve beaten every level. It is also because of the music and graphics you get frustated less good with reflexes ( I did at least) so just stop and tell us tomorrow if you have beaten it ;) I bet you will!

I do appreciate the positivity, please don't forget that, and coming back to it tomorrow was how I beat Dead Ahead and I think Death Wish (maybe?), but I've attempted that with this mission numerous times, still the same result, I get stuck.

I'll admit I'm not the best at this game (certain levels like Execution which I love I can get As on) and I have no problem with that, and yeah I can be a whiny baby sometimes (more than sometimes) but I genuinly want to at least see this game through, even if I'm not a hardcore PC gamer (haven't made the full leap yet, still a console plebian)

Its not that I want a refund because one mission is too difficult, its that its a buggy game, it's not a finshed product imo (ahem, 15 bucks and no level editor?) and while yes sure I have had some genuine fun with the game, most of it has been met with frustration.

Something about this game I noticed is that in my own personal experience, when I'm struggling with a level and finally get past it, I don't get a sense of accomplishent, I just think "Well finally thats over" and move onto the next Act or Scene, where as a game like Dark Souls I feel better for sticking it to a boss thats really been messing with me or a certain area that I've had trouble getting through (still havent made it through TotG).

I do greatly appreciate the positivity though, and I may try again later tonight.

Lmao nah I'm just salty at how they run Steam sometimes. Getting mad at someone who doesn't have anything to do with the game isn't the answer

I hate people complaining about HM being "too hard" when there's been so much desensitization to challenge on the market, but...
I can sympathize with you on the large room with the Psychos and Fatties.

I reccomend taking a break and coming back when you feel rested and better. This game works best in short spurts, as evidenced by the episodic format.

I know what you feel. this game is much more frustrating that HM1 was but thats part of the charm too. I've ragequited a few times so far as I tried to play it as HM1, tried to avoid exposing to atract enemies as I think thats quite an exploit but seems the game is designed to use it. For that part of the level you are, go to the up left room and start picking and killing enemies with the revolver, if you get into trouble use the door to knock everyone. At this point there are a lot of gameplays on youtube, you can search one for that level or the rest of the game if you are really done with it. I would sugest the first one tho

1/bait
2/kill
3/git gud?

HM is hard but fair IMO. You and the enemies abide to the same rules. You can use them to your advantage. If you can't go past this level, watch a walkthrough to enjoy the story like a movie...
Maybe you're too used to ez games like asscreed, TES, etc. HM is a different game though

It's really not that hard. It took me approximately 3 deaths/30 seconds to realize that you can instantly kill the charging thugs with a melee weapon and it's the same old peek in/out of a doorway thing.

When you bait one of the charging thugs at you, step BACK from the door as he's coming, or he'll glitch through the wall. That's the one major issue. They run completely through walls entirely or even just sort of "teleport" onto you if you're standing close to a doorway.

The hardest part of that scene was dealing with the last room where you have to fight the charging thugs and annoying fat guys at the same, but you can get it down with a bit of trial and error and luck. Have to learn how to quickly swap weapons and position them in favorable places for you to get to them, kind of like HM1's last boss. Bait one of the guys with a magnum into the little entry room, kill him and take his gun, kill the first fat guy in the bottom section (shoot the ♥♥♥♥ out of him until he stops moving), kill the next guy in the room that has a toothbrush shank, use that to bait and kill the charging guy in the top section, and now you've basically finished the hardest part of the level.

tl;dr melee weapons are your super friends on Release.

Spent an hour and a half on that level. Felt great finishing it! I don't remember the first one being this diffuclt, besides the last levels. Most stages in Hotline Miami 2 I've died at least 30 or more times in. Most grades I get are D's and the average time I get is around 30 minutes or more.
