I had no idea what you guys were saying until this.
So... HL 1&2 happen at the same time? Havent finished HL2 yet, did HL1 when it came out so i didnt remember much, now i feel like im missing out and need to replay to get parts of the story....
The Soldier, 1985
Jake, 1988
Richter, 1988
Jacket and Biker, 1988
The Bodyguard, 1991
The Fans and The Son, 1991
The Writer and the Detective, 1991
The Soldier and Richter, 1991 (this is the very end of the HL timeline, both of their final appearances happen more or less simultaniously)
Well, yes and no. certain chapters are set directly after the events of the first one, and then others before.
Basically, anything involving the fans/detective/writer/etc is after the events (DIRECTLY after) and anything involving the soldiers is in the past.
Remember how there is mention of an event that happened in San Francisco? Then in the comics, the protestors are saying that they won't accept another San Francisco event? During the scene "Casualties", San Francisco is nuked. Beard/Soldier's convenience store is located here and he passes before the events of HM1. This event happens in 1988. The clerks you see in the first Hotline are part of Jacket's hallucinations.
It happens in 1986
