Holding a gun sideways...
Movies are notorious for this, but some games are as well. They show an individual holding a gun sideways in their hand, and still being able to shoot accurately. In part of a documentary on firearms, there was a discussion about this: holding the gun sideways drastically reduces accuracy and can even cause enjury to the tendons in your arm due to the recoil. Firearms are typically designed to minimize the effect of recoil if held properly while firing, holding it sideways negates the intent of this design.

The reason they do it in movies is for dramatic effect.

This is also a 2D game, and I feel it better defines the gun your holding when you can see the full profile.

I was going to say the exact same thing. It would be very difficult to differentiate between several of the firearms, such as the multiples submachine guns and short pump-action shotguns, if they were drawn any other way in the game.

All the guns are sideways for simplicity.

Just for clarity: I wasn't criticizing this specific game. Sorry if it seemed like I was. I was just making a discussion about holding a gun sideways in general media such as games/movies.
