The Writer

I have an issue with the Writer, I'm trying to get the acheivement where you don't kill anybody in any of Writer's missions, I don't know if I missed any (I did two), but if I didn't, then the only guy I "killed", is the 1st guy who you "accidently" punch in the face until there's blood.

So is there a way to not kill him, or am I just blind?

No......if it's a level involving Writer, then no.

Killing the guy is scripted, so it doesnt count of course.
And just as the guy said, you have to unlock and complete "The abyss"

What you need to do is Jake's last mission, Withdrawal, and go through it. Once you reach the 3rd floor, you cannot die, otherwise you need to start over. Once you do get through the top floor without dying, you'll have a different outro. Normally, if Jake dies on the 3rd floor, he's left bleeding and the Russians drag him somewhere to be interrogated. If he lives, then the operative from 50 Blessings comes to tell him to follow him, as he's got something to tell him. Jake follows him back to 50 blessings, where's he's left in a room for just a moment while the operative leaves to get "coffee". While the operative is gone, you must right click in order to pick up a floppy on the desk. You won't have more than a second. Afterwards, you'll control Evan and will be investigating evidence found around Jake. You'll see the floppy among his clothes, and you pick it up. After you've done that, you can go to the main menu and at the right end of the mission select, you'll have Abyss unlocked.

Got it, thanks guys! But two questions, why did the dude kill Jake, and why did Evan just leave? What's the purpose of Abyss story wise?

Because Jake discovered 50 Blessings' plans in the intro and he doesn't want Jake to reveal their projects. 'Simple precaution'.
Also he needs to die so that the ending is coherent with the other canon one where he gets killed by the mobsters in the Hot&Heavy building.

Okay, what were those plans again? (I'm too lazy to go back in the game to find out) But why did Evan just leave after the encounter? What was the purpose of Abyss??

Abyss's purpose is to test your sanity as you try to find a logical way to fit it into the story or any alternate story.

Abyss technically isn't canon, as Jake was supposed to die in the interrogation room, which was apparently being held in a spa house ( as can be seen in HM1's Hot & Heavy). You find his body, and his Jake mask there, meaning that's where he's supposed to die.

So with that said, he was never supposed to get that floppy disk and by extension, Evan was never supposed to go to the 50 Blessings HQ, which I guess was abandoned by the time he visited. By then, it seems that 50B was ready to mobilize their plan of attack against the US and Russian presidents as they had already abandoned their building and let the hobos live in there.
